Sad Girls On ESPN
A single-serving tumblog (because the world needs more of those) that follows the odd trend of ESPN and other sports networks showing pictures of sad-looking girls as filler whenever the home team is losing. It's not high art or anything, but it's fun. I do the caption writing and theme designing, the sad girls are either my captures or from elsewhere on the internet. My brother daniel striped tiger also occasionally contributes on captions.

Hypnotizr, an online hypnosis service
I've been a hypnotherapist for the past five years, and because I'm a huge nerd, I've been looking for ways to automate my work. Hypnotizr is the result.

NPR Fresh Air Tumblr
This is a Tumblr I started which goes behind the scenes of my office. (I work at a public radio show in Philadelphia.) I try to post stuff about upcoming guests as well as posts that fit in with the aesthetic of the show. I have a lot of fun with it and thought I'd share it with Metafilter. (There's a lot of behind the scenes stuff about public radio.)

A new game for the Kindle!
I spent over a year building an original new word game for Amazon's Kindle. But I've actually worked another five years on the game's concept with my business partner -- who'd first shared his dream of creating a new game all the way back in 1991. "I almost wept on the day our graphic designer showed us the beautiful background illustration they'd created," I write in this blog post finally announcing the game's release. In "Throw in the Vowel," we've searched for exotic patterns of consonants -- sometimes even four N's in a row, or three T's -- and then provided the vowels which will turn them all into words. It's surprisingly satisfying to create meaningful words out of these semi-arbitrary patterns of letters. Can you "Throw in the Vowel"?

Reviews and recommendations of classical music- from classic recordings to rare and obscure gems
I made EnjoyNewMusic.com to share my classical music findings from Spotify, Mog and Grooveshark (with links), as well as from my own CD collection. I'm particularly interested in unusual transcriptions and arrangements, jazz and rock re-workings of classical music, forgotten and obscure compositions, as well as essential classic recordings. My writing style is short, down-to-earth and pithy. The most recent entry is a comprehensive examination of noteworthy recordings of Bach's Chaconne, which I hope MeFites will particularly enjoy.

The How Not To Kill Your Baby Official Growth Chart Of Doom
Have you ever read a parenting book that left you feeling inadequate and/or terrified? In other words, have you ever read any parenting book whatsoever? Then you might enjoy my new book How Not To Kill Your Baby, a parody of all those crazy-making pregnancy and parenting manuals. It comes complete with a poster-size detachable Growth Chart of Doom, which will tell you if your baby is big enough to survive an encounter with an angry capybara. For the story of why I decided to write the book, you can read my guest post at the New York Times Motherlode blog.

Snow White's Scary Adventures - A Retrospective
Tomorrow, May 31st, will be the last day of operation for the ride Snow White's Scary Adventures at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. The ride has played a significant role in my family's life for the past decade (my son is autistic, and has ridden the ride more than 3,400 times), and I wrote a retrospective about the history of the ride. This is a subject that is too close for me to post on the Blue, but Matthowie and Jessamyn both suggested that I post about it here. The linked blog post itself contains links to a four part series about my son, and also a link in the footnotes to the single best reference site on the web for the ride in all its permutations. I know it's just a silly old fairy tale dark ride, and not on many people's "must-see" list when they come to Disney World, but I hope my article can help at least a few people understand why it really is an important piece of history.

All the Saints You Should Know
I've been photographing and cataloging saint's relics, incorrupt bodies, and skeletons for the past few years. I have a backlog of over 40 but I'm starting to blog about them here.

Who's More Full of Shit?
Ranking politicians by their fact check rulings. I made it after wanting to compare the overall truthfulness of the big names this election cycle. Hope you find it interesting!

Paul Ryan Marathon Calculator
As a fairly ardent Democratic supporter and political junkie, the unrepentant mistruths of Paul Ryan's GOP convention speech annoyed me a great deal. As a distance runner, Paul Ryan shaving over an hour off of his actual marathon time, and putting himself into the much-envied group of runners who've achieved a sub-3 hour marathon, outright angered me. And as a web nerd, I figured I could at least help others understand what their Paul Ryan marathon speeds would be -- so I built a quick calculator to do just that. Enjoy!

I Bought Ad Space in the DC Metro to Tell Politicians the Harm Their Incessant Rancor is Producing
I'm tired of the spin and the half-truths. While politicians jockey for position and influence, Americans are suffering. I'm taking my Chamomile Tea Party posters to the public! I've rented ad space in Washington, DC's Metro and I've posted the first of two ads on their back-lit signs.

For Great Justice - My Justice of the Peace blog
I was elected justice of the peace in my small town in Vermont. I'm not official until February. I started a post-a-day blog about what's involved in being a Justice of the Peace, weddings, JP history, that sort of thing.

Model 100 upgrade
I've designed a new mainboard for the Tandy / RadioShack TRS-80 Model 100, one of the very first tablet computers. The machine turns thirty years old this year and, amazingly, many of them still function! My upgrade replaces the Model 100's 2.4 MHz 80C85 with the more modern 16 MHz AVR AT90USB1286 on a Teensy++ and adds new features like VT100 emulation and the potential to increase the storage from the original by a factor of one million.

GROKTAR
I'm looking for feedback on a guitar learning website I've been working on. First of all, it turns guitar tabs you find on the internet into music. Second, it's a general scratchpad for playing around with chords or scales and learning the fretboard. Third, you can share music and lessons with your friends.
