We make soundtracks for videos of bugs
Mrs. TheCoug enjoys to make videos of cool bugs she finds. A while back she suggested that we set them to music, and so that's what we did.
I have eaten the plums
Inspired by this post my favorite pastime recently, when I'm feeling down or bored, has been getting GPT-2 to complete William Carlos Williams poems. I've made a tumblr where I have been posting some of my favorite completions of his classic, "This Is Just To Say."
Back in Denmark
So after 35 years of living in the USA, I moved back to Denmark (exactly 2 months ago today!).
So here is a new tumblr blog with photos of where I've been and what I've seen. [more inside]

Coffee, cake & K-pop.
Nine, ten years after the single-serving Tumblr hype I've finally found a suitable (and seemingly endless) topic to do a single-serving Tumblr around: Confections and hot drinks in K-pop videos! So far I've put up 200 quick screenshots and there's more to come. I'm also happily taking suggestions for videos to feature - I really could use some more boy bands in the mix, for instance.
scherezadenfreude: 1001 nights of taking joy in the misfortune of others

F_ract_l
I've been exploring and creating a lot of flame fractals recently - they seem to provide an endless universe of fantastic shapes and patterns. So I've started putting them all on a Tumblr. They make great desktop backgrounds, anyway.
Lorem Ipsum
I have done broad nib calligraphy for the last two years. From somewhat rough beginnings, I have gotten pretty good!
all GRSSK to me
A fun, frivolous one-trick-pony Tumblr. Inspired by a Mediterranean restaurant in my neighborhood that swaps Δs for As and Σs for Es in their logo, this blog regularly publishes examples of swapped-in geometrically similar letters from various alphabets, regardless of the letters' phonetic similarity. In post descriptions, I also try and swap the original phonemes back in; thus GRΣΣK becomes GRSSK, and (mild) hilarity ensues. Submissions welcome! Shout-out to Bulgaroktonos for blog-naming inspiration.
Boomtown Sinners: Scans of My Book Collection
I have bad taste in books, or books in bad taste, anyway. Boomtown Sinners is a gallery of front covers from my library. It mostly consists of paperbacks from the 1960s but encompasses a wide range of vulgar, tawdry, and kitschy books and magazines, as well as a small handful you could read in public without embarrassment. Decidedly NSFW with some nudity and lots of sordidness. [more inside]

That Stupid HIBRYD HIBRYD Meme of 2016
As foretold eight years ago by goodnewsfortheinsane, it has come to pass!
Dr. Spaceben
Ben Carson's words, Dr. Leo Spaceman from 30 Rock's face. And vice versa. Proposed by Phineas X. Jones and quickly brought into fruition by him and his friends.
Scenes from a peep show log book
I worked at a famous peep show for five years and we had a log book where we would talk about things that happened at work. I'm taking tidbits and posting them on this blog. It's a work in progress as I am nowhere near getting them all photographed and uploaded and even further away from annotating it as much as it needs.

Counterfeit Content
My short, sorry stint in SEO was the strangest job I've ever had. I was asked to create hundreds of imaginary webmasters and write little "About Me" biographies of their lives for fake blogs that only Google's webcrawlers were meant to read. They gave me the site name, I wrote the bio, and a coworker added manipulated photos. I did this for many months. I began to get bored... and then I began to get weird.
My Kids' Art
I made a tumblr to upload scans of my kids' art and homework. Check out JFK and Hitchcock before you decide that sounds utterly boring.
You Don't Have To Ride - Gospel Records from My Collection
I've been collecting gospel records for a little while now and figured it was time that I share. Every day I post at least one track from my collection. Most of these tracks are from the late sixties through the early eighties and clearly influenced by secular black American music, but with a twist. For various reasons the vast majority of gospel music has never been reissued and isn't available digitally, so this is the first time these songs are available without tracking down the original releases in most cases. Metafilter Is A Land Of Contrast
The exports of Metafilter are numerous in amount. One thing they export is Simpsons quotes, or as the Indians call it, “memes”. Another famous Indian was “Crazy Horse”. In conclusion, Metafilter is a land of contrast. Thank you. [more inside]
First Drafts of History
This Tumblr consists of the earliest extant versions of various Wikipedia articles. It's easy to overlook what an ambitious project Wikipedia is in its design, and the way in which its articles have been built bit by bit into extraordinarily useful resources from often very modest and unpromising beginnings. It's interesting as well to see how the editorial voice and organizational structure common on current articles have evolved over time. If you have suggestions for interesting articles to examine, let me know.
Creative Commons Thing of the Day
One fun thing from the commons every day. Two rules: it has to be either openly licensed or public domain, and it has to have made us smile when we saw it.
Coachella Valley Photo Spheres Project (Tumblr)
I want to map cool, interesting, and (mostly) scenic places in a region I live and drive around a lot in, and have come to appreciate and love. It happens to host the largest music festival in the USA at the moment. It's kind of a quiet, nice place to explore and relax in (though not as much in the scorching-hot summer). [more inside]
DotDotCo: All Signs, All The Time
Who loves signage? I love signage. I also love constantly taking pictures of signs while traveling, and figured it'd be nice to start a tumblr of pleasant signs.

A Lovely Bit Of Business
Hmmm. I'm hoping this speaks for itself because I'm kind of reluctant to define what either 'business' or 'lovely' really are in the context. I also hope that you'll help me find some more examples.

PER SPECULUM IN ÆNIGMATE: Looking Through a Glass Darkly at the Age of Surveillance
My new Tumblr art project is a response to recent revelations about massive government and corporate surveillance. I'm posting a series of images, each containing an anaglyph 3D picture of an anonymous model, and a QR-encoded, PGP-encrypted email message that I can't read. A group of other people are writing the messages to each other, and my site is the delivery mechanism. With red/cyan 3D glasses, you can see "through" the noise of each image and glimpse some of the depths beyond. But only the intended message recipient can decrypt the embedded text. [more inside]
F*** Yeah Greenhouses!
Due to a relatively recent increase in my obsession with plants, during which I have accumulated enough houseplants that I need a spreadsheet to keep track of them, I decided to start a blog devoted to the darn things. Or, more specifically, to the custom-made areas dedicated to their growth. [more inside]

Horse of Thrones
Horse of Thrones is a single-concept mashup Tumblr combining tweets from infamous spam Twitter account @Horse_ebooks (previously on the blue) with stills from Game of Thrones.
Twitch of the Death Nerve
Exploring strange byways of horror with author Max Sparber. I look at horror-themed art, cult films that never really found their cult audience, disquieting comics, and write two-sentence horror stories, along with a amiscellany of other oddities from the world of horror.
Postcards from Somewhere
I like to take old postcards and make little collages and doodles on them, then send them to friends and family. It occurred to me that if I was gonna spend a bunch of time making these things, maybe I ought to post them online somewhere. And, well, I was bored at work today so I scanned a bunch of them and put 'em on this Tumblr. [more inside]

Houghton Library Tumblr
We're constantly digitizing new material at my library, which is Harvard's largest for rare books and manuscripts. I post about larger collections on our blog, but I wanted to have a place to put interesting single images as well. Right now, I plan on posting one new item per day. Each image links to the record in our online catalog, for anyone who wants to know more about the source or come in to see it in person.
Small landmarks
Small landmarks is a book project that I've been serializing on Tumblr. The book combines photographs with notebook writings, mostly drawn from places I've lived over the past few years: Halifax, Montreal and western Newfoundland. The work is about walking, finding things, stringing small moments together into something more. [more inside]

Analog film exhibitors list
A list of exhibitors who intentionally show films on film (35mm, 16mm, whathaveyou) to the public — cinemas, festivals, museums, and itinerant groups. It started out as a news digest looking at (1) cinemas that are switching to digital technology and (2) cinemas that are choosing to preserve analog film exhibition in some form, but I kept finding so many interesting little pro-analog cinema projects that I had to make a list of them. Concordance Poems
