Well Hello, Sir!
Per Greg Nog's request, the male counterpart of Meet The Lady. Both are regularly updated by myself and Help, I can't stop talking! (Well Hello, Sir! is mainly HICST!'s domain.)

WTF Has Obama Done So Far?
Often the question is asked, "What the fuck has Obama done so far?". For those unimpressed people, we made this site.

#mathowielove
I have no idea how these people got their #mathowielove wedged into their internets. But I think I know why.

Relaunching my publishing company with a new book!
After doing 12 books for major publishers, I revived the publishing company I started in 2007. I'm working with a handful of really awesome other authors who want to take advantage of new digital opportunities as well as print. First new book to come out is my industry tell-all...linked in the project link.

Brad Story: Aerodreams Sculpture
My dad, a former wooden boatbuilder, is now a sculptor. I've made a website to display his work, which I think is abstract and fascinating. (The sculpture, not the website.)

Intranet Secrets
As you may have guessed, a play on the super-popular PostSecret (very slightly unsafe for prudish workplaces) project. It’s a blog of secrets--some created by us, some user-submitted--about corporate intranets. Not roll-around-on-the-floor funny, but hopefully chuckle-to-yourself amusing. If you’ve got a secret about your hated corporate intranet, feel free to submit it via Twitter or this anonymous submission form.

Side by Side: Health Care Bills
For work we ran a side by side diff of the Senate and House Reconciled versions of the health care reform bill, so that everyone can view the actual changes to the bill under the "Deem and Pass" scheme.

Born for Love: Book/Blog on Empathy
This is the place where self-promo is OK, right? My latest book, Born for Love: Why Empathy Is Essential--and Endangered, co written with leading child psychiatrist Bruce Perry, MD, PhD, (we also co-wrote The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog) will be coming out in April. We've started a new blog on Psychology Today's website to discuss empathy, why it is so important in everything from psychological depression to the Great Recession and how the brain's reliance on social contact to cope with stress makes empathetic child-rearing critical.

Awkward Yearbook Signatures
Every year, thousands of things get written in people's yearbooks. Some of them are heartfelt and will stand the test of time. Most of them are not. I decided to start a blog to catalogue the best examples of the latter. So far I've bought yearbooks off of ebay and found good examples from my own yearbooks and friends. But I'm hoping you guys can help me spread the word and submit some of your own so that I can post them more frequently. Submission email address is awkwardyearbooksignatures@gmail.com

This is just to say...
I've been meaning to do this for a while - and have been half intending not to announce it in any way, letting people discover it themselves. But fuck all that, I'm a fame hungry whore and you are my dreadful stage.

Craftweasel: an Etsy recommendation engine
It must be Etsy month here on Projects... here's my contribution - a website that generates personalized recommendations based on your favourites. It's incredibly simple to use - enter your etsy username, & craftweasel generates a selection of recently listed items that, based on your current favourites, are in keeping with your unique personal style.

The Good, The Bad and The Etsy
Love Etsy? Hate Etsy? Well, what do you know--me, too! So I created a blog to snark about it three times a day.

Common Place - A Journal
My Dad, John J. Parman, has started a journal. He is the founding publisher, with Elizabeth Snowden, of Design Book Review. In this issue, he writes of his travels in Alpujarra, Grenada, Spain and considers J.M. Coetzee's opinion of Ivan Illich.

Grow your local economy
My wife and some friends have started a non-profit to help folks find and rate products grown or produced in their community. The organization is called Local Bounty and the associated Web site has just been rolled out. We’ve gotten a bit of participation so far in our community here in State College, Pennsylvania so if you want to see how it works with some populated entries, try looking there first.

There Are Cats in This Short Film
There Are Cats in This Book is a picture book by Viviane Schwarz. Recently the publisher, Walker Books, decided to make her reading it into a short YouTube movie. I got involved doing back-room things (mostly re-recording and editing Viv's narration, also adding the sound effects and the excellent music track by Matthew Robins, as well as a few small video edits and preparing the final cut).

Angry Octopus Comics
My daughter, almost 8 years old, decided to create a webcomic as one of her summer projects. The premise: an octopus who always ends up angry. After having her pitch several strip ideas, we decided updating twice weekly for the summer made sense. She creates some art, I doodle a bit, then stitch everything together in Photoshop. We'll experiment with different methods (chalk, collage, maybe LEGO) throughout the summer.

Fruit Slinger: A seasonal blog, from farm to market
For years, I would shop at farmers markets and ask myself what life must be like on the other side of the table. Fruit Slinger is the answer to that question.
