Fruit Slinger: A seasonal blog, from farm to market
For years, I would shop at farmers markets and ask myself what life must be like on the other side of the table. Fruit Slinger is the answer to that question.

This summer marks my fourth season working for an orchard in Southwestern Michigan and at the farmers markets in Chicago. My boss is a little nuts. The hours suck. The work is exhausting. People can be bizarre or outright rude. But the fruit is good. And I've never loved any job more.

A new season of Fruit Slinger brings a few twists: The blog has an updated look. A successful Kickstarter.com campaign will soon mean a shiny new camera with which to document the fruit. And I'm taking a hard line on getting people out of their cooking comfort zone, with more recipes posted and a campaign to get people to tackle canning fruit and preserves.
