Things People Have
This MeTa thread was chatting up the idea of swapping around hometown-specialty-style stuff, so I spent a few hours throwing together a site where people could list things from their area that they're willing to ship or trade or the like. If you're interested, you hit them up through MeFi Mail and exchange is born! How else are strangers going to ship you possibly-poisonous local goods?

babyrunaround.com
I filter the gossip so you don't have too. I cover all the basics from Britney to Punk to the Hills to our friends south of the border. You don't need to visit twenty sites to find the good stuff. Let me tell you what you need to see.

Blues Name Generator
Riffing on an old idea/joke that came up in Metatalk today, I've put together this little blues name generator. Because why should Leukemia Sweet Pepper Tyler have all the fun?

Free magazines on your iPhone
Texterity makes hundreds of print magazines available digitally. We built a custom iPhone interface and managed to get permission from more than 20 to allow their most recent issue to be available for free. Make, Popular Science, Vibe, ReadyMade, eWeek, and more.

SFUMATO
This is a webzine I've created as a platform for writers and nonwriters I know, from which they can share true stories based on a new theme every two months. Three issues so far: "The Dignity of Labor" (current), "Forbidden Love", and "Tales of Revenge".

52 Challenges in 52 Weeks
I decided to make a list of 52 challenges: little ways of improving myself and making a positive difference in my life and the life of others. I gave myself a week to do each challenge, and I am now starting week 4. You may recognize this link from this askmefi question.

bunt cake: a webcomic thing
bunt cake is a new comic thing that I make out of baseball cards. It’s not about baseball, it's just literally made out of baseball cards. So if you like your childhood ephemera gone at with a pair of scissors and then recontextualized against random photographic backgrounds with dialogue juxtaposed there upon, this thing is right up your alley.

WeNeither
WeNeither is an online dating site that matches people based on shared disinterest. Just launched this into a public beta, being unsatisfied with the way most dating services work. It might be buggy! Feedback appreciated!

What do you think of the first draft of the first page of my memoir?
If I’m going to be serious about it, I thought I’d debut it over here and hear what reaction it might receive, although I’m not sure its worthy of anyone’s attention. Still, any advice that you can give me would be highly, highly appreciated. This has been a dream of mine for a long long time, and I think this time I’m going to stick with it and try and crank it out.

Learning to be a leftie.
Roughly two and a half weeks ago I was hit by a motorcycle while biking to work. My right arm was broken at the wrist, elbow and shoulder. I'm right handed. Faced with the prospect of not being able to draw anything for eight weeks, I decided to teach myself how to draw with my left hand. The blog is the record of my ongoing efforts, which are turning out surprisingly well. The main hurdle is just how goddam long it all takes.

Myspace Pictures
Some of my favorite nostalgic myspace photos-- cute girls, pretty faces, twee kids, emo kids, folk punk kids, jewish kids, etc.. might be good for inspiration, fashion ideas, making friends (NOT for anything creepy please)

The Orange Swan Review
This is a book review blog, which consists of my personal essays about/reactions to the things I read. My reading materials are a very mixed bag, but I'm working on a long-term project to review all the Newbery Medal Winners since 1922, so this site might be of interest to those who like children's and young adult literature. It's not, strictly speaking, a new project, having been originally launched last fall, but I wanted to wait until I had a fair amount of content before posting it here. To date, I have something like 27 essays posted.

I just took 100 photos in 100 days
Frustrated with my lack of photographic output, I resolved, starting Feb 1, to take and post a photo every day for 100 days. I just finished today!

pictures of Suburban Houses
I've started taking pictures of new construction, cookie cutter suburban houses. And once you start doing that, it's hard to stop, because it keeps popping up everywhere you look. Let me know what you think.

Pain Killed
This is a story I wrote for the Philadelphia City Paper about a local father whose son died of an OxyContin overdose in 2001. It details his subsequent six year campaign against Purdue Pharma and his reaction to last week's court ruling that fined the company $600 million and found three executives guilty of criminal charges for making false claims about the drug's addiction risk.

ScreenDig
This is a place where people can create fan sites about tv shows, movies, celebs and video games. The site creators get to keep 50% of the ad revenue across their site. It's still got more work to be done, but it's very functional at this point. Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Let’s play games for the first time…and fail.
People record themselves playing video games for the first time, with no prior knowledge of the controls, game play, mechanics or storyline. And then they fail. During this, they swear a lot. Currently, all of the content is screen capture with audio, but I'm hoping people will eventually submit webcam/video with a picture in picture of a face growing exponentially more frustrated. It is interesting because, while the videos are amusing to watch, they are infinitely more fun to make and submit. The site is based off of an idea proposed by a SomethingAwful.com member, and used with permission.

Send Me Mail!
Based on the responses to this AskMefi question (how can a college student get more mail), I've gotten myself a P.O. Box and made a YouTube video asking for mail. Watch it and send me something, anything - it would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Twee Fashion
I'm not a fashion expert but I made this blog because I couldnt find anywhere else about twee fashion (which is basically cute girls wearing sweaters and scarves) and the different outfits you could wear. Hopefully this will inspire some people to think creatively about fashion choices

Blog Migration and Redesign (5,000+ entries)
I've been making daily blog entries since July, 2002, and up until now... I've used my own home-grown solution. Today, I'm excited to say that I've officialy switched over to Movable Type, after successfully migrating all of my entries. Posting about a blog redesign here in Projects seems a little... weak to me, as it smacks of vanity. But I've put in a lot of work during the conversion, and I'm pretty proud of the results. Thanks to all the MeFites who helped me out, especially fooljay.
