18 short plays about Python and programming

At the PyGotham 2018 tech conference, Jason Owen and I presented "Python Grab Bag: A Set of Short Plays", inspired by the Neo-Futurists' show "The Infinite Wrench". The 40-minute video is up on YouTube and my blog post links to the script and slides, credits the crew and cast, deep-links to the specific timecodes for individual plays, and gives citations for the references we made. Brian & Lindsay Will Totally Eat That

I created this show - the first video series from our media network MaximumFun.org. It's called Brian & Lindsay Will Totally Eat That, and I made two very nice young people eat all kinds of weird stuff and I'm very proud of it.

Console Obscura - a retro gaming culture and history podcast

Console Obscura is a podcast dedicated to video games and the people who play them. Ephemera, nostalgia, absurdity, history, culture, arcana and trivia are all fair game. If you remember what a new power pad smelled like, or Ganon's laugh sounds like, OR If none of that rings a bell but you enjoy a group of funny children of the 80s talking trash, this podcast is for you. Game on!

Comedy Video - More Rock, Less Talk

A comedy video about a Classic Rock radical vs. a Classic Rock moderate. We put a lot of work into it. It's five minutes long, which I realize is on the long side, so thanks for taking a look. [more inside]

Saucy vacation tips from Franklin the Ladies' Cat

My misguided, confident cartoon character is back with some invaluable advice for the romantic traveler... in his trademark, confident style seemingly informed by the infinite wisdom of men's magazines. [more inside]

MetaMitchell&WebbFilter

On January 4th, 2013, Authorized User said: “For the longest time I have had the theory that for every FPP there is a somewhat relevant Mitchell & Webb sketch.” This project is intended to both test that theory and act as an indispensable tool for MeFites.

Star Wars is the most deceptive and seductive pro-fascist narrative ever written

I used to be a huge fan of Star Wars, but I can no longer ignore the ugly truth. This is a video of a performance, part comedy, part political analysis of the Star Wars universe, wherein I present my take on the Star Wars mythology. Can you be leftist and pro-monarchy?

Cold Cat (animated short)

A freezing cat seeks the warmth of a woman, but ends up having to rely on city infrastructure. Along the way, there's a bit of Gangnam Style, a hot-tub scene of sorts, and a very brief bedroom dalliance. [more inside]

Our First Babysitter

Just in time for Halloween, here's a new comedy improv short that my wife and I made. She stars, and I directed. New parents get a very special visit from their first babysitter. It's Spooktacular! Starring Adria Dawn (NCIS, Nip/Tuck) as Raven, and guest starring Joel Stoffer (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) and Thanna Vickerman (Ultimate Reality.)

I started this project as way to get people interested in voting while at the same time offering a satirical approach to the typically bland ways people are implored to vote.

R Money Music Video

I made a music video envisioning Mitt Romney as a rapper named R Money who likes to rap about how wealthy he is. There is an interesting synchronicity between some aspects of hip hop culture and wealthy media figures like Donald Trump and Mitt Romney that make for a funny juxtaposition, I think. [more inside]

John Roderick Plays a Potluck

This winter, we invited John Roderick of Seattle band The Long Winters and the Roderick on the Line podcast over for a potluck dinner. He played a few songs, told some stories, and ate all of the food. A few of those moments have been put together into a video collection called "More Than Shapes," named for a song and a story from that evening. [more inside]

I made a WWII Shoot 'em Up for Android

A friend and I decided we wanted to get some Android development under our belt. What better way than to make a retro-themed videogame that harkened back to one of the favorites from my youth? Droidius: 1945 is a short, vertical shooter with old-school graphics and a kickin' rad soundtrack to match. Only a daring ace with skills to match can defeat Hitler and the Nazi Menace. Will you deliver victory? Or defeat? It's at your skillful fingertips!
