Beyond Flavortown - Mefites review Guy's American Kitchen & Bar
Beyond Flavortown - When the users of Metafilter found their website bombarded with negative reviews of the new Times Square eatery, they decided to shuffle on over and see for themselves what the fuss was about. We recorded their reactions.

For Great Justice - My Justice of the Peace blog
I was elected justice of the peace in my small town in Vermont. I'm not official until February. I started a post-a-day blog about what's involved in being a Justice of the Peace, weddings, JP history, that sort of thing.

Brad Sucks - Guess Who's a Mess
I posted some of the early demos for my third record to Metafilter Music and then took forever finishing it. But it's done now! Done and in my past! Pay what you want (including zero dollars) on my website, stream it on Spotify/Rdio or grab it on iTunes, the choice is literally yours.

Metafilter Podcast Transcripts
There's an ongoing effort to transcribe episodes of the Metafilter Podcast. Using Fanscribed, we now have a good platform for letting people drop in and transcribe 30 seconds at a time, without special software. We've been using Fanscribed for a few months now; we've taken care of a dozen older episodes already.

Want to find out how MeFites are pronouncing MeFi?
After years of studying these shibboleths, and tracking my research progress here, I'm happy to share some data results from the 2010 survey. My first published article, Sociophonetic Variation in an Internet Place Name is available in Names: A Journal of Onomastics special issue on Names, Naming and the Internet (Maney Publishing). Enjoy!

Do Go On
1990s video game magazines are (rightfully, perhaps) remembered with little more than ridicule. But those of us who grew up with them still love their overly aggressive, poorly layed-out and sometimes puerile charm. Tune in for erudite commentary hilarious one-liners, found vaporware footage and more!

Now That's What I Call Drone: Vol. 1
With this compilation, the challenge was for musicians to create drone versions of Top 40 pop songs. The word 'drone' was to be interpreted by each artist as they saw fit. The results are varied, interesting, and pretty damn good. Pop drone psychic energy. (Yes, "Call Me Maybe" is in here.)

Zombies, Run! A running game and audio adventure for iOS
We've recently released our first original smartphone game, Zombies, Run! It's a running game and audio adventure for iOS (and soon, Android) where you run in the real world while getting story and instructions through your headphones. As you run, you also get chased by zombies (so you need to speed up) and you automatically collect supplies that you can use to grow your home base, Abel Township. Today, we also launched our free 75 page book, The Runner's Guide, with more background on the world of Zombies, Run! plus the script and audio for Mission 1.

Strategy games are really starting to come into their own on smartphones and tablets, and there wasn't really a site to serve that niche. Hence: Pocket Tactics.

A helpful drinking robot
Ever wanted to know where in Oregon the next new bar will be? Every week, Oregon's liquor control commission posts pdf's of their applicants for a liquor license. This bot grabs the latest PDF, makes a google map from it, and then tweets it.

With algorithms subtle and discrete, I seek iambic writings to retweet
Pentametron 2013 (pronounce the year "two thousand and thirteen") scans seven million tweets or so each day, in search of those that happen to be in pentameter - and then it retweets them. It digs up five to ten of these per hour, making a sort of endless sonnet from the vast collective chatter of the Net.
