There was an episode of Star Trek: Voyager where an alien race was given some tablet computers (which hadn't yet been invented when the episode aired) and allowed to type on them to facilitate their language. The aliens had a capacity for language, but the computers and the chimes they made when they typed on them helped to enhance their communication. Captain Janeway walked in while they were typing and without knowing what was going on commented that she had just heard a great composition, and the hologram doctor replied that no, she had just heard a great conversation.

I never thought the idea was really feasible, but lo, you just made it happen.
