Demote Pluto!
Pluto is, at best, a large Kuiper Belt Object, along with its sister planetoid Charon. We cannot let this common speck of rock and ice be raised to the echelons of the majestic gas giants or the diverse terrestrial planets, nor can we allow bureaucratic wrangling to needlessly complicate the classification of what is clearly a simple planetoid among many in the outer solar system. Maybe once we thought of Pluto as a planet with an eccentric orbit, but today history and progress must march forward hand in hand, and they march towards this goal: the Demotion of Pluto!

My Father's Hand: A blog of figure drawings
My father can no longer hold a pen. He sure could draw in his time, though. If you enjoy this sort of thing, bookmark it as he has done hundreds. He was the king of simple line drawings, especially nude studies. My mother is taking care of him full-time now as he has both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Any revenue from his work will go directly to his care. I hope you enjoy the drawings.

The Ham Taco!
This site is dedicated to having fun with Marvel's Fantastic Four comic book. It's divided between (i) spoofy webcomics, and (ii) teasing homages to the fabulous goofiness of the original comic. Lots of colorful comic panels are presented for your entertainment. Why "The Ham Taco"? It's catchy, man!

CaretFilter
A greasemonkey script to replace those post-word-caret Wikipedia^ links with arbitrary text. The script currently defaults to [I HAVE NO SOUL]. If you'd like, you could tweak it so those links disappear altogether. *shakes fist to sky*

Enclosures
are the little pieces of ephemera you sometimes find sandwiched between the pages of secondhand books. They're interesting and sometimes revealing. I found a few at once last year and decided to highlight them in a blog from now on...and haven't found any since. So the project really needs to grow or die. Anyone who finds an enclosure is invited to send me a pic or scan for inclusion here.

NES speedrun maps
There are people who use the help of emulators to play video games as fast as they possibly can. The proof of their efforts is a recording made by the emulator which contains timing information on all the buttons they pressed while playing through a game. These are some images I made by taking the direction pad key-presses from a few of these speedruns and using them like Etch-A-Sketch controls to trace out the "path" taken by the recording. The source code I used is available for those who are curious.

One Sentence
This project came from an idea I had a number of years ago that originally manifested itself as a single blog post. The idea is simple: true stories, told in one sentence. There's all the good stuff like RSS and tags, of course, but the main focus is on the visitor-submitted stories. Launching the project is fun, but it'll be a lot more fun to see what types of stories people tell.

JZigishness: Game Design, Development, and Culture
I'm a game developer who likes writing about things, so I decided to start up a blog. It's for other game developers, knowledgeable game players, and anyone interested in what goes into creating art in the new media of computer games. Okay, so mostly it's me telling everyone else why they're wrong.

The Tangled Web of Syriana
A Visio diagram of Syriana's complex plot. Syriana is an espionage thriller involving Big Oil, the US Government, and the Middle East. The events in the film are fictional, but only barely so. This couldn't come at a more appropriate time, as Bob Barnes (played by George Clooney) seeks safe passage into Lebanon through the help of Hezbollah.

Filboid Studge's Life Drawing Blog
Love that old timey humor illustration? Got a jones for historical minutiae? My husband has been blogging his collection of old Life magazines dating from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, with a focus on classic cartoonists. He's covered early T.S. Sullivant and James Montgomery Flagg, among others, and his current entry on Warner Brothers director Bob Clampett unearths the legend's first published work (as a 12 year old!) in the LA Times Junior Times. I love this stuff- I hope some MeFites out there do too.

Wrestle the Blogathon to the Fucking Ground
On July 29, I will be participating in the 2006 Blogathon. I'll write for 24 hours straight to raise money for Sweet Relief, a charity which "provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians who are facing illness, disability, or age-related problems."

To encourage people to donate to my charity, I'm giving away a few prizes: a 4GB iPod Nano and a copy of Expression Engine (w/ Discussion Module) blogging software. I'm also giving away unreleased music tracks from some great bands. Donate prior to the event and double your chance of winning a prize.

the fairly secret song of the day blog
Secret no more? A number of years ago I started a daily lyric-writing project which eventually resulted in my writing 1,001 consecutive lyrics. I let it drift for a few years, then recently started up again, with a slightly more ambitious goal. Now I've decided to blog them, starting at the beginning and posting one per day. Most of these have never been seen before in any form. The long explanation of the project/blog is here I know it's very early in the blog's development, but I'm hoping my backlog of over 1,500 original lyrics (with new ones being added at an average of one per day) will make up the "significant" requirement. Incidentally, all the songs I've posted on Mefi Music so far have featured lyrics from this project.

Click survey
I want to find out where people click on on this sample painting. Try it out, your click will be saved, and you'll be able to see the patterns that emerged from other clicks so far. The more people click, the better the results, I imagine.
