British Placename Mapper

A web app that lets you search for British place names that match certain queries (eg. starts with 'great', ends with 'burgh', contains 'sea') and show them on an interactive map. Fascinating patterns start to emerge, and you can even share links to your favourite configurations.

a web app for playing Netrunner via video call

Pantograph is a web application that streamlines playing the card game Netrunner with a remote opponent using physical cards. Each player needs paper cards and a camera positioned over their play area. Once you start a video call using the app you can click on your opponent's cards to see higher resolution images. Dither All the Things - Atkinson Dithering for the Web

I think we can all agree that web pages today are too colorful, which is why I have created a web component that crushes your images down to crisp, pixel-perfect dithered black and white. This blog post features an interactive demo - dither your own images and party like it is 1985!

DNDle - Wordle, but you're picking stats to guess D&D monsters

It feels like there's a Wordle clone for everybody nowadays. But I decided to go in a slightly different direction when I made DNDle, a game in which you try to guess the Dungeons & Dragons "monster of the day" by assigning values to its attributes and being told where you've got them right. Mobile-Friendly Compendium for Eclipse Phase

Eclipse Phase is a cool (if crunchy) tabletop RPG that mashes up post-singularity science fiction, survival horror, and enthusiastic transhumanism. The folks at Posthuman Studios have released it under a generous Creative Commons license that allows the community to expand, remix, and experiment with even the "canon" materials in the books. To that end, I've built a giant online compendium of every skill, power, character trait, creature, piece of gear, weapon, location, faction, NPC, and pregen character in all of Eclipse Phase's published books. Nerrrrrrrrrrrd.

Twicery: Twitter keyword monitoring

A user on Quora asked "Are there any free or cheap tools that would enable me to monitor a keyword and be notified whenever somebody over a certain follower threshold (say, 100,000) used it in a tweet?" I thought it was a great idea, so I built it. Specify Twitter keywords, set a minimum follower count, and receive an email when a suitably popular account tweets about it. You can also exclude retweets and filter out chosen accounts.

Secret Metafilter

Secret Metafilter highlights discussions that are still active on older Metafilter posts. The idea comes from Metafilter user painquale, who wished there was a way to easily find older, active threads, and called the body of such threads "Secret Metafilter." [more inside]

blindsketch.com

blindsketch is a little drawing game for desktop and iOS devices (Android users proceed with caution) where you draw without looking. Use your mind's eye to render a complex and beautiful masterpiece, or just sketch a little doodle, but either way, you can only see your drawing when you are finished. Choose free draw or take the daily drawing challenge if you're feeling competitive. Today's challenge is a video challenge. (note that the images in the gallery section are not censored in any way, and that yesterday's drawing challenge was "NSFW", just so all the jokers can get the inevitable phallus drawing out of their system.)

Random D&D Character

This site generates random Basic (Moldvay/Mentzer), Holmes, or Original D&D characters. It's a little web application written and designed by me in Python. You can add "text" to the end of any URL to get a plaintext character sheet.

Onflood

An ad-hoc, location-specific messageboard. Grabs your location and creates a messageboard based on messages sent by the people around you; the more messages there are near you, the more geographically-focused your messageboard is. Hopefully useful as a backchannel for conference talks, protest demonstrations and more. Photos, files, OpenID, ActivityStreams and APIs to come.

lazzia.com - lightweight A/B image testing webapp

I got tired of firing up Google Website Optimizer whenever I wanted to do a quick image test, so I built this. It uses OpenID so you can login with your Google/Yahoo/Wordpress/Blogger account. The tracking is completely redirect-based so you can use it in places where javascript is not allowed (e.g. blogspot). Use it to optimize product photos, screenshots, banner ads, etc. Comments/questions welcome. Check out this blog post for a more in-depth look and an example use case.
