Psychedelic Clinical Trials Aggregator
Trypt.am is a simple PHP site that aggregates global clinical trials databases (clinicaltrials.gov, clinicaltrialsregister.eu) as well as some smaller databases (trialregister.nl, anzctr.org.au) and then segments them by popular psychedelics/entheogens.
This is far from perfect; I hadn't done any programming for almost 7 years, so I had to clear the cobwebs in that part of my brain. There are still plenty of bugs and data nuances to suss out. In addition, there are other trial databases such as Who.int that are not yet implemented. I stopped working on Trypt.am in July, so I was pleased that it was still mostly functional when I checked this morning.
This wee project was done on behalf of the Entheos Foundation of NZ (entheos.org.nz), which recently became New Zealand's first psychedelic charity organisation. Hopefully some of you can find this information useful!
Roadside New Mexico: a photographic journey
During the summer, I rode the motorcycle through the back roads of the Land of Enchantment, photographing the many towns where time has moved on.
New Yorker Cartoon Captions
Every week I enter the New Yorker caption contest by literally describing the cartoon, and will continue to do so until I win. This is that collection.
Twitter-based Pluto "Facts"
In commemoration of the impending flyby of Pluto by the New Horizons mission, I have created a twitter account, inspired by other such "fact" oriented accounts as @CatTipps, @FactsAboutEggs. Will publish a fact or two about Pluto every day up through the NASA flyby, or as long as the inspiration lasts.
Saving Our Sisters: A Grassroot Movement helping mothers avoid reliquishment
Building a Mothers Network
"The network has been providing the very support that many of the birthmothers wish they been given when they were experiencing an unplanned pregnancy crisis and the threat of adoption seemed the only way out."
If you know a mom in a crisis pregnancy who wants to birth and parent but is concerned about a lack of resources, financial security, support, or emotional issues they need help with, let them know about this resource. [more inside]
Ren's List - Places to take your dog in the Buffalo-Niagara area

PrepaidAfrica Discussion Series
The Prepaid Economy: African edition began as a means to track notes on the rise of Africa as an investment opportunity back in January 2010. Today it has over 28,000 readers on Tumblr, engaging an audience of young Afropolitans. We will be beginning a new series of discussion posts where engagement from our readers is encouraged. This Friday (25th January) we will be having our very first moderated conversation and the topic at hand will be “China’s presence in Africa.”
If there are any particular article links or thoughts that you would like to see addressed in the discussion, feel free to share them and we’ll be sure to integrate them into the post. We look forward to hearing your input and hosting a productive conversation on the effects of China’s presence in Africa. Your moderator will be Beulah Osueke, currently Masters Degree student at LaSalle University, Philadelphia
Blogologues: Younger Than Springtime
Hi all! Our company has been experimenting with this crazy comedy project in which we perform the internet, completely verbatim. We've done a bunch of one-night engagements of the project with new themes every time, and for the first time ever we have a 16-performance run. We're performing weekends through May 5th in the west village of NYC. [more inside]
The 24 Hour Novel Project
Dream of writing a novel but can’t find time to write? How about setting aside just 1 day? I gathered a team of authors to compose a novel collaboratively in a day (May 28th) and you can watch via the web as every word is composed in real-time. The cover art will be created that day too, which you can observe via live video stream. The collaboration culminates in a free Creative Commons licensed e-book available for download the following day. Wish us luck. We'll need it.
New Yorkers: How is my concert listings iPhone app?
I just finished a NYC version of my concert listings app, but I'm from Philadelphia. I'd love to know if the listings are good and if I'm listing all the right venues. [more inside]

April Fools: it is the third and final year of the month-long half-assed half-truth manifesto For A New Green Society (previously seen on mefi here and here).

Scouting An Abandoned Mental Asylum
I recently had the opportunity to scout for a film the Rockland Psychiatric Center, a massive 600 acre complex built in the 1920's, with dozens of administration buildings, dorms, and even its own power plant...and nearly all of it completely abandoned. This is part one of the pictures I took.
A look inside the nearly completely empty 8th Ave post office in NYC
New York's Farley Post Office building is about to be converted into Moynihan Station, an extension of Penn Station. Nearly all of the postal workers have been moved out, leaving the enormous, five-story block-encompassing building nearly totally vacant. A last chance to see...
