ThinkStank: Josh Millard's Bad Ideas
I have a lot of ideas. Most of them are pretty questionable, underdeveloped, or poorly-thought-out. ThinkStank is a blog where my ideas go to hang out. I even put some of them in action, like the WTF LOL OMFG flier and Always Be (Snow-)Cloning.

Steel Mouse Pads
It'll never work! But it does. This isn't steel with a plastic or teflon coating. This is unadulterated, hot-rolled, mild steel. It's worked into various shapes, finished smooth, burnished, and customized with your own mark, if desired. The final surface treatment enhances the function of optical and laser mice while reducing friction between the pad and mouse. The pad, over time, develops a patina that improves the feel and optical pick-up. Beyond the shapes offered, I can customize your pad design to whatever fits your desk, or imagination. Customization is encouraged.

Ride, Rise, Roar: The New David Byrne Concert Film
This is the first David Byrne concert film since Stop Making Sense, and we premiered it yesterday to a very energetic crowd at SXSW. I built the website on Wordpress and plan to release it as a WP theme in the coming weeks (after a few tweaks to make it a little more general-purpose).

Josh Millard, Musician
My new music blog and archive. I've spent the last several weeks collecting and organizing several hundred recordings I've made by myself and with others in the last fourteen years or so, and this is the result.

beanplate - a tool for filtering the Infodump
I've done some work with the Infodump, & it felt like I was rewriting boilerplate before I got to the interesting stuff. Inspired by psgrep from the Perl Cookbook, I wrote something to filter the Infodump files by simple criteria.

Put This On
Put This On is a new web series (and website) about men's style for men who want to dress like grownups. I'm the host/producer, Adam Lisagor (aka LonelySandwich) is the director/cinematographer/editor/producer as well as an on-camera contributor. We just finished our first episode, and are looking, eventually, to get some money together to make more.

App idea? There's a page for that. Presenting Notepods.
While working on a larger iPhone app project that will hopefully get posted here in a few months, we were frustrated that there wasn't a dead simple notepad to accurately sketch out an iPhone UI, so we went ahead and made one. Sure, it's not for everyone, but I hope some of you may like :)

Gel Videos: inspiring talks from the Gel conference
These are full-length (around 20-minute) presentations from the Gel conference, held annually since 2003 in New York City. Gel, which stands for "Good Experience Live," explores good experience in a variety of fields - design, technology, art, business. The videos are all Creative Commons-licensed, and each has a comments page for viewers to contribute to the discussion. New videos will be posted every week or so.

Guide to Making a Pecha Kucha Presentation
I recently participated in Pecha Kucha (Chicago), a presentation format that places an interesting constraint on all participants: 20 slides, 20 seconds each. My talk was on Repetition and Variation, and I found the entire process a pretty interesting and unique one. In the hopes my experience might help others, I ended up creating a "guide" where I've posted tips and general advice, as well as the jpg/psd files I used in my presentation.

Kickstarter, crowdfunding for people who make stuff.
Kickstarter lets creative people -- journalists, artists, musicians, game developers, entrepreneurs, bloggers -- raise money for their projects by connecting directly with their fans, who receive exclusive access and rewards in exchange for their patronage. Set a fundraising goal, deadline, and a set of rewards for backers. If the goal's reached by the deadline, then everyone's charged and backers get their goodies. If not, nobody's charged. Make stuff, without the upfront risk!

Look At This Cat!
I made Look At This Cat because I figured there are a lot of cats out there that people should look at. And I don't see why that has to involve like crazy Web 2.0 crap when all you really need is some pictures of cats and the ability to say to yourself "hey, look at that, that is one great cat right there".

Public Radio Podcasts
NPR is a treasure trove of great audio content but most of it is not accessible via a podcast feed. This site uses the NPR API to construct proper podcast feeds for their shows that don't current have feeds (e.g. Morning Edition, All Things Considered) as well as per reporter and topic based feeds. Enjoy (and try to look beyond my comically bad web design)...

StupidFilter Beta Release
So, I'm not sure who remembers my little StupidFilter project-- the one were I decide to cure stupidity on the internet with fancy-pants algorithms, but we kind of actually did it. It's not quite perfect, but it really works. So, without further ado, here's The Press Release and The Demo.

FlickrTwitterThinker: Thinking Other People's Thoughts
Playing around with the Twitter API, and created a project where recent Twitter comments are superimposed over tagged Flickr photos. Users can upload photos to Flickr, and the tags help the thought balloons to be positioned correctly/automatically.
