iTerm2 - Mac OS Terminal Replacement
iTerm2 is a terminal for Mac OS. It's the successor to iTerm, which had been abandoned. I picked it up about a year ago and fixed lots of bugs and added lots of features. It snowballed from a quick fix-up to a major project! If you spend a lot of time in Terminal, came from Unix to Mac, or hunger for more power at the command line, this is for you.

Art Wear - A T-shirt and Screen Printing Blog
A new blog dedicated to screen printing on T-shirts. Posts will hopefully be eclectic, including reviews, technique, profiles, the history of t-shirt printing (especially in Austin), and other musings as they occur to me.

WTF with Marc Maron: the Public Radio Show
WTF is a popular podcast hosted by comedian Marc Maron. He interviews comics (and once in a while non-comics) about their lives and how their minds work, and generates really amazing insights. Since I'm a public radio producer, I talked Marc into making a limited-run public radio series out of some of the best episodes of the show. My colleague Nick White helped. You can listen to (and review) the episodes at PRX.org.

30 days of watches
I'm writing a new watch face every day for a month to try some more creative programming ideas on the inPulse wrist-watch. So far I've completed 21 days and am working on clock number twenty two this morning.

Without a Net: Librarians Bridging the Digital Divide
I wrote a book! It's at the printers. I made a website for it that contains the appendix, some supporting information/handouts/links and some other stuff. I used the INFLUX one-pager design (thanks ArcAm) and then I tampered with it. It's fine if you don't buy it. I'm just so happy it's finished.

Arcade-quality Pac-Man in HTML5
By "arcade-quality", I mean that I captured the graphics and sound from the Pac-Man arcade ROM (via MAME), implemented the original ghost movement strategies, and tried to get the animation as smooth as the original. This implementation includes a high-score board, and can be expanded to accommodate multiple mazes.

Why Would You Click That?
You provide the linkbait, I provide the shame. I designed this site as an easy way for people to participate in April Fools' Day, without having to do much work on their own. It works best if you have a Facebook account, but you could use it via Twitter, your site/blog... basically anywhere you can share a link online.

Gamefilter dot net
"So," I asks myself, "self: does the world need a Metafilter-like site dedicated to gaming?" The answer I got back was "Hell, yeah!" and Gamefilter is the result. It's the newest site in the burgeoning network of MefightClub websites, ripped off from inspired by Metafilter and fitting somewhere in between our more chatty private forum and the more long-form Full Glass Empty Clip group blog. You don't need to be a Mefight Club member to join in; registration is open to all.

In Focus - a new news photo blog
A couple of years ago, I announced right here in the green a new Big Picture blog I was starting up. It did very well - so well that I was able to make this into a fulltime job with the Atlantic Magazine, and I'm really happy to announce that my new blog "In Focus" is live as of today, and I would certainly love it if you stopped by or helped spread the word.

Here, I Taped This!
I'm borrowing terrapin's cassette deck so that I can digitize all my old cassette tapes. Among them are various mixtapes, as well as cassettes chock full of songs I taped off the airwaves in Boston in the early 1980's (probably while doing my homework). Here's where I share my tapes with you -- and I invite you to share your old cassette tapes with me, before they deteriorate or that little fuzzy nubbin falls off the cassette. I have about forty of my own tapes to go. Hope you enjoy my first foray into Projects!

Law and the Multiverse
Have you ever wondered "Does Batman's close cooperation with the Gotham police department make him a state actor for Fourth Amendment purposes? Is evidence that he gathers even admissible?" Well, I did.

Put This On Episode 3
We just finished episode three of Put This On, a web series for men who want to dress like grown-ups. This one's about work, and we interviewed Paul Feig, the director of the upcoming "Bridesmaids," with Kristen Wiig, Paul Rudd and Jon Hamm, and the co-creator of Freaks and Geeks.

Monotoning Music with Echo Nest Remix
I got an idea a while back to try and automatically "monotonize" music using the Echo Nest Remix library. This is a presentation and explanation of my initial process and some of the more interesting examples I've produced using the script I wrote. See for example Comfortably Numb as a one-chord song or Suzanne Vega's favorite note.
