The MP3 blog for busy people
CPI's MP3 blog (alternate facebook version) was set up to accomodate my friends who love music, but are too busy/productive to constantly dig up the best new stuff.

Wallet Garden - simple protection from ID theft
A free (and kind of pretty) web app, with a really simple goal: help you out if you've lost your wallet. Before you lose your wallet (that's the key part!) you go to Wallet Garden and enter in the customer service phone numbers for the different credit cards in your wallet (or purse). Then, if you lose your wallet while traveling, you have an easy go-to place to find all the numbers you need to call. The holidays are coming up, and you'll probably be traveling. I hope you're able to keep your wallet in your pocket. But for all you perdedors, this will hopefully help you out if you find yourself in a bind.

The Gecko Wears A Tiara
My selection of the most amusing ancient Sumerian proverbs, taken from The Electronic Text Corpus of Sumerian Literature, (which I learned of from this Metafilter post.) Warning: PDF.

Awkward Yearbook Signatures
Every year, thousands of things get written in people's yearbooks. Some of them are heartfelt and will stand the test of time. Most of them are not. I decided to start a blog to catalogue the best examples of the latter. So far I've bought yearbooks off of ebay and found good examples from my own yearbooks and friends. But I'm hoping you guys can help me spread the word and submit some of your own so that I can post them more frequently. Submission email address is awkwardyearbooksignatures@gmail.com

In Which I Ruin Rashomon For Everyone, Forever
Trying to "solve" Rashomon is absolutely the stupidest possible way to approach this Kurosawa masterpiece. But diagramming it in a bullheaded attempt to figure it all out... that can only be described as a sensible use of one's time. Now with added Ted Sallis!

Modista
"I can't believe how intuitive and effective this is." Shop for apparel (men's and women's shoes, handbags, eyewear) in a totally novel way. Click on something that catches your eye, then instantly see more items that look similar. There's also some variety thrown in so that you can explore related looks. This open-ended browsing is supposed to be easy and fun! This project, based on computer vision algorithms, won the UC Berkeley Business Plan Competition this year. We're just releasing the beta now. I'd love to get some feedback on it... thanks!
