OEDILF, The, n.

The Omnificent English Dictionary in Limerick Form, or OEDILF (oh-DILF), is a magnificent, ambitious, and slightly insane attempt to write a limerick for every word in the English language, one letter group at a time. Twenty years after it was first posted to Mefi, it's still going strong—which means that it's now celebrating its twentieth birthday. [more inside]

Word Searches for Dad

My dad Perry is really into word searches. I decided to build a website for him called perryspuzzles.com. We are both happy with the result. 32 different categories with puzzles like The Empire Strikes Back, Better Call Saul, and one dedicated to my friends at metafilter. If the puzzles aren't hard enough, you can always enter into ludicrous mode. If 5000+ puzzles isn't enough, you can make your own and share it with your puzzle loving friends. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and I hope you enjoy.

Surfwords

Surfwords is a very hard word building game. After I sold Semantle (previously), I decided to quit my job and make games. Surfwords is my first. I released it a few weeks ago, but I just decided to add a playable demo. You can try the demo on the web (works best with Chrome). The soundtrack is by Patrick Cornelius, and everything else is by me. [more inside]

Cheating Hangman

I made a game of Hangman that "cheats" by changing the word it's thinking of in order to make it as hard as possible to guess. But while it cheats, it never lies: it remains consistent with what it's told you so far about the word length, matching letters, non-matching letters etc. [more inside]

Odd Vice

I made a thing that tweets weird mashed-up VICE headlines. Some of them are funny I think, if you're familiar with VICE.

The Long Bleep, a podcast and blog about taboo language.

The Long Bleep will be a public forum for discussion of four-letter words, "dirty" words, swearing, cursing, obscenities, and more. The first step is a questionnaire. Its results will be used to create podcasts and blog posts structured around things that really happened when taboo language was used: confrontations, first encounters, eureka moments, learning situations. Those stories will lead us down cultural and historical paths as we tease out the complicated relationship English-speakers worldwide have with "dirty" words. More information on the blog.

Gibberish Generator

I'm proud to announce my first iPhone App: Gibberish Generator. This app allows you to generate pseudo-random sentences from lists of verbs, nouns, and the like. Optionally, you can enable your contacts, to allow them to be used in the random fun. The result can be tweeted or emailed to your friends. I can't imagine a more useful app than that. Perhaps I need a better imagination. [more inside]

Building a Photo Library by Offering a Cash Bounty for Word Photography

My creative agency is looking to build a photo library of certain words printed out or otherwise manifested in the real world. So we're offering a cash bounty for photos of said words if they get posted on our FaceBook. I came up with the campaign, I hope it does well. I think it's a pretty cool way to crowd source this task. More details through the link. If it falls flat we'll probably send an intern around the city with a camera, but we're hoping this works. It would be much cooler. Let me know what you guys think!
