Running for Carrboro Town Council
I've been canvassing and making phone calls for Democratic campaigns since 2004, and I've been a precinct secretary. I've also been on the board of two different local nonprofit organizations, the Triangle Linux Users Group (TriLUG), and the Carrboro Bicycle Coalition. Running for elected office is a big step, and I'm new at this, but I think I have a clear picture of both the logistics and the financial reality of what it will take to run and then do the work of a Town Council member.

MeFi has played a significant role in my growth, and today I was reminded that this campaign is worth sharing with y'all. So... feedback welcome.

I am not in your area, but I applaud you stepping up and running. Citizens who serve are the backbone of this nation, from local offices right up to Washington, D.C.!

Today is primary day in my state, and I just got back from voting; a few of my neighbors are running again this year, and it makes me proud to support them.

Hey, that's great! I'm not in Carrboro, but super excited at the idea of a Mefite getting into local government here in the Triangle. Let me know if I can help with making phone calls or something!

I'm living in Thailand, but still registered to vote in Carrboro. So you'll at least be getting 1 vote!

This is fantastic. I really appreciate your willingness to do the work of getting elected and serving in public office.

Your platform sounds terrific, and if I were in Carrboro, I would totally vote for you.
