I promised MeFi some information about singing mice a long time ago...
I've just graduated with my PhD! In my department, PhD defenses are traditionally open to the public: anyone who wants to can attend. Because of COVID, mine was held via Zoom this year, and I was able to record it and transcribe/caption it so that anyone who would like can watch.
The defense was actually held in September, but I made significant changes to chapters 2 and 3 before I submitted the thesis this past week, so you're all getting it now. Chapter 1 is published already as “Leptin Regulates Song Effort in Neotropical Singing Mice (Scotinomys Teguina)”, and that link should be accessible to everyone if Elsevier is telling me right.

Role: It's my PhD defense!

I'm about halfway through and enjoying it greatly. Thought I'd share that one of my cats was very intrigued by the example mouse song.

I'm jealous--mine don't care at *all* about singing mouse songs. I keep playing them every couple of years in case suddenly they've become appealing, but no dice. Maybe I need new recordings.

(I hope you don't take it as disrespectful if I drop a Bagpuss link in here.)

Elsevier is now saying it is not longer accessible as a free article.
