I'm giving paintings away in exchange for donations to people's favorite charities.
I have created the Art Into the World website to: A) Get my paintings out into the world for people to enjoy, and B) Motivate them to donate to a cause of their choice in the process! Everybody wins!
I’ve been making art in one form or another for a good chunk of my 60 years, and have long since realized I’m not in in it for the money (as if there were any). In fact, I have no desire to make money from my works… but I would like them to do some good in the world. So I concocted Art Into The World...
Each week, 1 or 2 paintings go up for auction. I honestly don’t care if they go for $10 or $10,000. I want everyone to have a shot at a painting they want.
When people make a “donation bid” for a painting, they are actually bidding the amount they will DONATE TO THE CHARITY OF THEIR CHOICE... not how much they think the painting is worth. That’s how they acquire the painting.
When someone's donation wins the weekly auction, they make the donation, send me the receipt, and I send the painting (free, and postage paid)! That’s it! Easy peasy.
Participants can also send a photo of the piece in their home or wherever it hangs, and I’ll put it in the “Paintings in the World” section of the site.
So far it's working well! I would love your comments, suggestions... and participation.

Thank you all for the lovely comments!
Gotanda: how did I come up with it? Well... just did.Once I realized I could do other things with my artworks - besides selling - it was just a matter of working out how. I think the hardest part is convincing people it’s OK not to put a value on the artwork - that the value is in their donation. So far I’ve had donations go out ranging from $40 to $1000 ... so it’s starting to be clear, I think.
