An Ancient Sisterhood Surfaces
The fondness my daughter and her friends have for secret clubs, messages, handshakes and what-not got me thinking about what would happen if that enthusiasm were put to good use for something like literacy for girls world wide. Thus Girls Guild, a pretend secret society complete with a legendary backstory set in Atlantis, an ancient nemesis and, of course, girls apparel was born. Keep a watch out for those pink spirals popping up on bumpers all over the place . . . Here's a quick video introduction.

This is a very cool idea, but your site looks like it's from 1996.

Heh, yeah I know -- I'm not a professional web designer :) so this was kinda the best I could do with the user friendly wordpress.
But . . . I did release the stuff under a non-Commercial Creative Commons license, so if you are inclined to make a better site (or help me with mine) that would be awesome! Maybe get some of that fancy flash in there or some such.
Anyway, I'll keep working on my web skills. Thanks for the vote!

I agree. The idea is a total winner - but to work, the production values need to be cutting-edge and highly professional-looking. I'm picturing more of a band website with some intriguing Flash stuff to play with. This setup looks too didactic and educational and behind the times.
But I think you're really onto something with the concept. It's the same vibe as the 826 projects - it would be great if you could get commensurate visuals.

Hey Miko -- thanks for the feedback. And yes we are totally on the same page as far as appearance -- it's just beyond my skill set. I had actually imagined something that was a cross between the slick harry potter and hannah montana websites, sort of girlie but intriguing. So . . . know anyone who might wanna partner up on this venture? Heck, I might even post that as a question in ask mefi.
