Because I've asked for help on some of my short stories I wanted to share them with y'all. It was suggested that I start a blog and enter it here. They are far from publishable, but I though y'all might be interested in how they turn out. As I keep writing, I'll probably ask for more opinions and I'll keep on posting. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

At last! It took me a long time, but my latest Game Design Essentials article for Gamasutra is finally done and up! This time the focus is on games that don't require a computer to play. The focus of the article is to briefly summarize the games for an audience of computer game designers, but you might enjoy it too.

Research Club is a clubhouse for inquisitive people
For the past year, I've been running a little organization called Research Club here in Portland, Oregon. It started out as a monthly dinner at my house, which then turned into a monthly series of free brunches and lectures at an art gallery downtown, and has now turned into a permanent location shared with micro-cinema, Grand Detour. The official line is that Research Club is a community-supported think-tank.

Full Glass, Empty Clip
Three years on and Mefight Club, the not-very-secret-at-all offshoot community of Metafilter that likes to play games together, has decided that a public face a little more engaging than a login form might be a thing that we'd like to have. Also, you know, we're Mefites, so we're inordinately fond of typing words into boxes and hitting Post buttons. So I made this: Full Glass Empty Clip, a brand new Gaming Group Blog, written by any and all of our 850-or-so Mefight Club members who feel an urge to write something about or at least related to gaming.

Our first conversations are with Chandler Burr, the perfume reviewer from the New York Times, and Gerald Lange, a well-known and very talented typographer, printer and educator; upcoming interviews will include authors, scientists, politicians, and all sorts of interesting non-famous people too. Got suggestions for interviewees and/or questions? I'm listening!

100 Rogues - a sweet new roguelike for the iDevices
Hi Metafilter! Just wanted to announce that my roguelike (which is sort of like an RPG, but with permadeath, randomly generated maps/loot, and it's entirely turn-based - think turn-based Diablo), 100 Rogues has been released on the App Store!. Here's the review from TouchArcade!

Mr. F and I started up a comics blog in January as a lark. We review books from our pull every week, we report the occasional bit of news, and today, we just posted our first-ever interview, where we talk comics and film with Dr. Horrible creator and Terminator: 2029 author Zack Whedon.

DIYstro is a distribution system I and a friend built for independent bands and labels. We put it together to sell our own music online and extended it so anyone can use it. You upload your band's music, and we provide a suite of copy and paste javascript widgets to sell you music wherever you want.
