Game Design Essentials: 20 Non-Computer Games
At last! It took me a long time, but my latest Game Design Essentials article for Gamasutra is finally done and up! This time the focus is on games that don't require a computer to play. The focus of the article is to briefly summarize the games for an audience of computer game designers, but you might enjoy it too.
The games covered are:
Go, Chess, Parcheesi, Backgammon, Monopoly, Scrabble, Pente, Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Catan: The Card Game, Munchkin, Contract Bridge, Arkham Horror, Nuclear War, Paranoia (Troubleshooters), Call of Cthulhu, The Logic Puzzles of Nikoli, and Crossword Puzzles.

This was an awesome article; I was very interested to read it and learn about games I haven't played before.

Great read! Hobby Games: The 100 Best is a good book in a similar vein.
Good to see Call of Cthulhu on there. I only played it once, but it was the most striking experience I've heard had playing a roleplaying game.
