Noteworks Beta - music composition software
Noteworks is a piece of music composition software that re-imagines the way music is created, played, and shared. Users create musical compositions by building networks and interacting with them in real time. We've reduced the learning curve for algorithmic music composition, so that anyone can create original compositions in minutes. With just a single click, dynamic networks can play back for hours without repeating!

@Play Collected
In the three years since it began, the most common question I've been asked about @Play, the roguelike column I do for GameSetWatch, has been is it possible to just get your column? You could always reload the @Play column homepage (http://www.gamesetwatch.com/column_at_play/), but there is no feed that collects the column that doesn't also publish all of GSW's many other (awesome) articles. Until now! Atom.

IfRL
So, I made a 7-day roguelike. It also happens to be a work of interactive fiction. Finally, the two great genres of ASCII video games unite. Er... finally? It's a little bit barebones, but what do you expect in just seven days? It has its own little website at: http://256k.org/IFRL/

Circle Into Square Online Magazine
I've been undertaking a series of interviews at Circle Into Square called 'Everybody Knows You're Not from Here' for about the last year. Subjects interviewed live in the Portland, OR, area and include Ian from the music blog Musicophilia and mastermind of the 1981 box set, the married duo of writer and comic artist Sara Ryan and Steve Lieber, rockers Wow & Flutter, and a dude we all know who really likes donuts. I've just started another series called 'Not Quite 20 Questions' with the inaugural interview being Kliph Scurlock, drummer for The Flaming Lips.

beanplate - a tool for filtering the Infodump
I've done some work with the Infodump, & it felt like I was rewriting boilerplate before I got to the interesting stuff. Inspired by psgrep from the Perl Cookbook, I wrote something to filter the Infodump files by simple criteria.

Word War vi
In a world divided by two editors, one man sets out to face down his destiny in an epic battle to the death to save his lost data files from being destroyed by the system. It's a dangerous game... did I say dangerous? I meant ridiculous. It's a ridiculous game, but somebody's got to play it. You are that somebody. This is that game. Word War vi.

This is just to say...
I've been meaning to do this for a while - and have been half intending not to announce it in any way, letting people discover it themselves. But fuck all that, I'm a fame hungry whore and you are my dreadful stage.

In Which I Ruin Rashomon For Everyone, Forever
Trying to "solve" Rashomon is absolutely the stupidest possible way to approach this Kurosawa masterpiece. But diagramming it in a bullheaded attempt to figure it all out... that can only be described as a sensible use of one's time. Now with added Ted Sallis!

Angry Octopus Comics
My daughter, almost 8 years old, decided to create a webcomic as one of her summer projects. The premise: an octopus who always ends up angry. After having her pitch several strip ideas, we decided updating twice weekly for the summer made sense. She creates some art, I doodle a bit, then stitch everything together in Photoshop. We'll experiment with different methods (chalk, collage, maybe LEGO) throughout the summer.

Everyday Actionscript
There are many great blogs about cool Actionscript projects -- games, particle systems, etc. I love them and visit them every day. They inspire me. However, few of them impact my day-to-day, prosaic work as an Actionscript developer. So I started a down-to-earth AS blog, on which I post tips and tricks that have helped me with my with my work. It's mostly an info dump for me, so that I don't reinvent wheels. But as it may help out other developers, I'm posting it here.

Markov nonsense generator for Twitter
Inspired by MarkovFilter, Twittov is a python script that produces nonsense from your Twitter history. You can either run the script yourself, or send any message to @twittov and he'll respond with nonsense. Disclaimer: If you message @twittov, he might take up to ~10 minutes to respond. If you haven't posted many tweets, he may give up and respond with a joke (or half a joke, as it may be).
