A Year In Glitch
I have been making (loosely) abstract expressionist (or colourfield) art on my phone. Naturally it's digital, and procrastinational. This is an essay-as-vehicle for a gallery of it.

Reverend Honeybeard
A year ago, in the course of taking a writing course from the inimitable Shira E, I found myself assigned with making music as well as writing poetry. I bought a MIDI keyboard and some software and taught myself how to use Ableton Live, Logic, and a host of iOS music apps. The assignment included posting the music I made, and I felt shy about posting under my name, so I created a musical alter-ego, Reverend Honeybeard. After the class ended, the Good Reverend seemed to want to live on and soon was making an experimental/electronic/ambient album, posting in his oblique way to Twitter and Tumblr and now composing/recording and uploading 1 song a day every day for the month of March 2016.

A Visit to Cementland
Here's an album of photos that I took one day in Cementland. Cementland is an abandoned/unfinished industrial playground/amusment park kind of place (if you're in to that sort of thing).

Women in Comics
As this comment went over well, I decided to make a longer, annotated list of women in comics, worldwide. Though I started with comics I like, I did some research to find stuff I didn't know about, and I'd love to hear suggestions for more. There are currently about 220 entries.

Hieronymous Bosch Work Memes
Observational humor memes about how much work sucks can only benefit from the feverish apocalyptic stylings of Hieronymous Bosch, right?

Over the Christmas holidays, the Minecraft Aporkalypse gang from the MeFightClub community resurrected the Aporkalypse server (the talk of the Metafilter community back in 2011) and placed it online for a special winter reunion. The server is still up and has a crowd of the regulars online every evening.

Neural Networks Translate Images to Poetry
Neuralsnap generates an image caption using a model I trained (convolutional and recurrent neural networks), then uses another character-level recurrent neural net that I trained on ~40 MB of poetry to expand the caption into a poem. (In this example, generated from a Rothko painting, the red text is the direct image caption, and the rest is the poetic expansion.)
