Hundreds of hand-drawn turkeys!
As teaching assistant for a large (700+) class at upenn.edu, I was put in charge of photocopying the midterm. I added "Draw a turkey" to the last page; here are the results. Gobble, gobble!

FRN
My latest project is a blog about trains in all their forms -- historical and modern, freight and passenger, real and model -- and the people who are crazy about them. When "trainspotter" becomes synonymous with all obsessives, you know that train fans have a reputation for being just a little bit fixated. "FRN" is railroader's slang: it stands for "fuckin' railroad nut." (Oh look, another three-letter acronym with the F-bomb in it. Of course I have to name a blog after it.)

Another stab at micropatronage
I’ve started a micropatronage drive that, I hope, combines features of several of the previous drives. In this case, the proposition is to subsidize me while I fundraise for an accessibility research project. Supporters also have numerous zero-cost options, including the use of clever ad banners.

Audio branding blog
A conversation on audio branding -- the intentional use of music, sound and voice to create a cognitive and emotional connection between people and organizations. I'm focused on more than one-off jingles, temporary anthems or the blip-bleep noises your gadgets make; this is about the totality of a brand's sound everywhere the brand lives. My goal is to grow a greater awareness of the role sound plays in our lives today. And my motivation is to ensure that sonic touchpoints are used to enhance the world we live in, rather than serve as a vehicle for sensorial bombardment.

Word Plus One
Fun with flash fiction... Starting November 1, I will write a new story every day for a year. Each day, the number of words in the story will increase by exactly one. Yes, the first story is only one word long.

Status Report
Status Report was created to provide background on Status of Women Canada (SWC) and related issues. On September 25, 2006, the Canadian federal government announced a 5 million dollar (40%) cut to SWC's administrative budget. On October 3rd, they removed the word "equality" from SWC's mandate and changed the rules so that women's groups cannot use federal funding to do advocacy or lobbying. Status Report provides objective information about SWC, along with tools and motivation for people to lobby the federal Conservatives to revisit changes made to the agency's funding and objectives.

Sportable
A new sports blog dedicated to covering all things sports, ranging from commentary, gossip, sports style, and team/player analysis. My friends and I started this on October 1st, and we've been polishing our writing styles over the last 3-4 weeks. I designed the website and I'm currently maintaining all the non-writing aspects. I'll be writing some articles starting next week on soccer as well for those soccer fans. I'd appreciate any constructive criticism and comments. Thanks!

iGTD - a software idea of getting things done.
About a month ago, I posted this: Metafilter thread about My dream app And entered my three ideas. Somehow, iGTD (Getting things done) was accepted as a finalist. You know the routine. Please, get over to MyDreamApp (a software 'american idol' idea contest) and vote for me (or even just help me and others improve their ideas)

Snakes on Film
Some people nitpick movies or TV shows for historical accuracy or continuity. Me, I nitpick 'em for their snakes. Seeing someone scream in terror at a snake that I can immediately identify as a harmless species you can buy at the local pet store for sixty bucks spoils my fun, so I'm spreading the joy. Snakes on a You-Know-What has had its snakes debunked and profiled; I'll do the same for as many other films, movies and short videos as I can track down. For that niche who likes both snakes and movies. (Yeah, him.)

Finally, a web Sudoku site that doesn't suck
Every Sudoku site I've tried is worse than using a piece of paper. So my friend and I created a site that's more fun than pencil and paper, and has a bunch of cool features to boot: Smart Hints (that tell you *why* the next move makes sense so you get better), undo, bookmarking so you can resume a puzzle later or send it to a friend, and a cool UI.

Captain Canuck Legacy
What began as a patriotic expression from an unknown, independent artist has evolved into a cultural icon. Captain Canuck is Canada's favorite comic book superhero and the creation of my father, Richard Comely. The Cap's back after a 10 year leave of absence, this time to stop illegal weapons being smuggled en route from the US to Canada!

My Father's Hand: A blog of figure drawings
My father can no longer hold a pen. He sure could draw in his time, though. If you enjoy this sort of thing, bookmark it as he has done hundreds. He was the king of simple line drawings, especially nude studies. My mother is taking care of him full-time now as he has both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Any revenue from his work will go directly to his care. I hope you enjoy the drawings.
