Warning: This is an ad. But it's one I made and I like to think it's funny (YMMV). Either way, it's definitely geeky.

The TravelSum - Travel news and information filter/aggregation thingy.
I like to read about travel and have wanted to see something like this for awhile. With the help of a friend, and some emboldening by this post on 37 Signals' blog, I put together this site.

Obama-Centaur holding severed Bush-Medusa head
Riding the Obama/mythical horse beast meme, I made a political fan art piece of my own (and got to draw half-naked Obama, always a plus). Combining the innate coolness (?) of centaurs with the myth of Perseus, I give you the Obamataur, triumphant over his foe, Bushdusa. In honor of making rent, I'm selling (through cafépress unfortunately), prints and t-shirts, too.

Film Addict
In response to one of those stupid Facebook note memes, I've made a page where it's easy to show how you are The Best at watching movies. How many of the top 250 movies have you watched? Why hasn't your co-worker seen The Godfather, what the hell is his problem?

Using Drupal: An O'Reilly book about Drupal
After a year or so in gestation, a project that several friends and I have been working on is finally hitting the streets. We've authored an O'Reilly book about Drupal, the open source content management system, and it's a huge encouragement to see it become reality. Woo hoo!

Gel Videos: inspiring talks from the Gel conference
These are full-length (around 20-minute) presentations from the Gel conference, held annually since 2003 in New York City. Gel, which stands for "Good Experience Live," explores good experience in a variety of fields - design, technology, art, business. The videos are all Creative Commons-licensed, and each has a comments page for viewers to contribute to the discussion. New videos will be posted every week or so.

A blog about cufflinks
I like collecting cufflinks. The problem is... I don't have a job or social calendar that requires me to wear cufflinks. I started this blog as way to "collect" cool cufflinks without having to actually spend money. There's a definite lean towards geek chic, but I try to post more classic designs as well.

The Atom Smashers
Some of the Chicago Billy Goat crew will recognize this project - The Atom Smashers, a feature-length documentary I produced with some local filmmakers on Fermilab, particle physics, and the international race for subatomic discoveries.

Noodle and Meatball
Noodle and Meatball is a store that sells unique shirts for your kids. Check out the tie shirt, it's my favorite: little business man I built and designed the site. The business is run by my wife and her sister. They are both stay-at-home moms in Minneapolis, MN.

The OGs, back in the old neighborhood
Barbara and Harry are a nice Jewish couple, married for 73 years, who've moved back to the old neighborhood, to L.A.'s first retirement community, Hollenbeck Palms. Of course, Boyle Heights has changed a bit since Barbara dubbed it "a Jewish Tijuana," circa 1930! Barbara is a social butterfly and problem solver, Harry is a self-taught Zen master with a yen for science and exploration. We've enjoyed the wit, wisdom and weirdness of our grandparents for our whole lives, and think it's high time the rest of the world got a chance. The OGs blog promises all Barbara and Harry, all the time. Tune in for a daily dose.

The Design State
I started this site to cover specific topics of interest in public sector web design. My main focus will be government web design, since that’s my line of work, but there might be some useful stuff in here for non-profits and even private sector folks as well. I just started it yesterday, so there ain't a ton of content yet. If there are things you think I should write about, I'm happy to take suggestions.

How much is oil?
I've always been frustrated with the lack of an easy way to find the current price of oil (Nymex Crude Futures, which seems to be the most commonly-cited number in news stories). How much is oil? shows you in a nice big font, and includes graphs of the price movement during the current day and the last five trading days.

Portland OR Day of the Dead Procession
Inspired by los Días de los Muertos, join this community parade in honor of our beloved dead. Bring candles and photos, and wear skeleton masks or makeup if you like. Dancers, drummers, musicians and performers welcome.

quandr: cheaper than therapy
Quandr is a community forum for intelligent discussions and advice on relationship problems, moral dilemmas, sexual predicaments, family squabbles, and all of life's other little quandaries. It's another place to ask and answer human relations questions... for those of us who can't get enough RelationshipFilter in AskMe!

Shitwitter
We're clearly at the very cutting edge of ajax implementation - and pushing the envelope of the Twitter API - but we figured you only get one chance to really explore what's possible in the digital world. We took that chance. This painstakingly crafted web app queries the Twitter API and highlights the word "shit" in recent Tweets. Oh Yes.

Ajax Wikipedia Search
This is a small app with a specific goal - provide a better way to search through Wikipedia. I often go to Google to find Wikipedia pages on a specific topic. Having multiple search results in a sidebar makes it easy to skim through a variety of Wiki pages easily.
