Australia's Surfers Paradise is under attack by a killer snake, addicted to methamphetamines and steroids. It's Schoolies Week and thousands of teenagers party hard on the beach not suspecting the biggest night of their lives is about to be gate crashed by a drug-fuelled reptile whipped into a frenzy. One year ago, Rick Ross released "The Devil is a Lie," a single from his Mastermind LP. In it, the rapper proudly proclaims "the devil is a lie, bitch I'm the truth!" This inspired me to create a redux of the song addressing the "Truth" behind Rick Ross' name. [more inside]

I have over 24,000 16mm educational films from the 1920s thru 1980s and have been sharing them at avgeeks.com (previously). But I still have a ton of films no one else has made available online in good quality, if at all. So every day during the month of August, I'm digitizing and uploading public domain 16mm films that anyone can watch, download and/or repurpose for their own projects, free of charge. They're being collected at av-geeks.tumblr.com, and include The Potheads, a bizarre amateur anti-drug film from 1968, a 1958 interview with Ansel Adams about his craft, sexy industrial porn, Any Boy USA, in which Mr. Whiskey explains the perils of the big city to our hero, and lots more. I'm uploading at least 3 new films a day; the goal is to get to 100 miles (240 hours) of film by the end of the summer.

Many medical interventions, including drugs, procedures, and other therapeutic initiatives, have been studied in the past and found to be effective for some condition or another, only to be lost to the sands of time as researchers move on to other topics and more well-known interventions become dominant. Similarly, many new and promising interventions are hampered from gaining wider acceptance due to the fact that there is often scant literature to be found. This is often the case with research on generic drugs, which does not generally have the benefit of pharmaceutical industry backing to provide funds and exposure. I'm a medical student, and by creating this site, I hope to catalog all the interesting tidbits of forgotten and obscure research that still hold promise for yielding effective treatments now and in the future. While the pickings are a bit slim at present, I aim to add lots of interesting and underappreciated bits of research as time passes! [more inside]
