I've started to read many of the books and articles covered by the New York Review of Books. I'd like to hear the thoughts and reactions of other active readers to these works. [more inside]
This is a little light for a projects post, but I'm working on organizing some online book clubs. I was thinking people here might be interested in joining one!
It's time again for my annual SF/F book club! This year we're reading The Hobbit, in honor of the film out December 15. We're reading 4 chapters a week (or roughly 10 pages per day) with a goal of being halfway done when the film comes out and finishing at the end of the month. The main blog with recaps, reading mixtapes, schedules, etc. is on tumblr, but we're also on @decadventure and Facebook. (Like the facebook page and you'll be added to the closed Facebook discussion group, if that's your bag.)
It's the third year running of my December science fiction book club. This year we're reading Edgar Rice Burroughs' A Princess of Mars. We're on tumblr (linked above), twitter, and facebook. The book is on Project Gutenberg, so it's totally free! Reading starts Thursday, December 1.
In conjunction with last year's Dunecember, I've started another classic sci-fi readalong club. This year, we're reading Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game. The main recaps will be posted on the afore-linked tumblr, with official tweets @dec_ender and twitter discussion at #decENDER. Ender's Game is a quick read, and the schedule starts today!
