Wordshore speaks some words
MeFites suggested phone answering or ringing messages, and other short texts. Some were recorded and are available through Soundcloud. In addition, a few classic MetaFilter phrases were recorded, as well as an attempt to recite several MeFite names in one go. On playback, my current accent is a slightly strange mixture of Asum and 1930s BBC English, with occasional deviations (for reasons) into Brummie, west coast Scotland and Midwest America. Make of that what you will.
There are four playlists of sound files:
- Requests sent by MeFi Mail. Only some, which are not personally identifiable, are made available.
- MetaFilter culture. A few phrases and acronyms from the collective history of MetaFilter; see the wiki for explanations.
- Names. I attempted to read out a sample of MeFite (user)names in one take. It did not quite work, but I've made it available anyway. No offence intended if I mangled your name (especially to claudius).
- Requests from the MetaTalk thread
All files should be available for download; if there are problems, then the SoundCloud Downloader may be useful.
The pictures are mostly places I've lived in, as well as some foods encountered and occasionally eaten.
Thank you to MeFites who submitted texts for consideration and possible recording.

Hilarious! Brilliant! I can rest in the confidence that Wordshore will answer my phone with classy disdain!

Disclaimer: my eyesight isn't what it used to be for reading tiny letters (and how I hate the writing on tins of food from Aldi) and it was only after the recording that I realised it was CLAUDIUS. Just in case anyone is wondering who the heck "CLAV-DIVES" is.

You're not alone. I've always hear it as "CLAV-DIVS" in my head.

Hah. I'm going to use the clip for Fizz's request as an alarm clock tone on my phone.
Bravo.

The recitation of mefi names reminds of the BBC shipping forecast -- just a pleasant steady stream of gibberish.

Oh, holy Moses, I love how Wordshore hails me whenever there is a call on my phone. I am sometimes reluctant to answer, just because I want to hear him say it one more time.
THANK YOU, THIS IS GREAT!
