Gimbal - Multiplayer Shooter Game with Buildable Vehicles
After two long years, my dream project is done. Gimbal has multiplayer, a physics engine, buildable vehicles, and an old-style client/server model where the players can host their own games. I just launched it, and there is already a small player base.
After two long years of full time work, my dream project is done. Gimbal has multiplayer, a physics engine, buildable vehicles, and an old-style client/server model where the players can host their own games. I just launched it, and there is already a small player base. The game is compatible with Windows.
It plays a bit like Subspace/Continuum. Players attack the enemy team to eliminate them or destroy their carrier. As they play, they earn money to build better ships. 60+ parts are available, including engines, weapons, sensors, and aerodynamics. Additionally, players can share their ships as images over the internet (ship data is stored in PNG metadata).
It's time to show off some media.

There is a lot of cool stuff that went into Gimbal. It has multithreading, efficient network code, fast collision detection, and aerodynamics. I'm open to technical questions, and also to just talk about the game and how it plays.
