Modista is Back
We announced Modista here on Metafilter four years ago. Three years ago, it was sued to the ground. Now, it's back. Shoes + computer vision = ?

I remember when Modista launched (the concept is so... obvious, but so elegant and revolutionary), but I didn't hear that it had been frivolously sued. Welcome back!

It would be interesting to know what changed legally.

Ah, I see on the About page, you say,

In 2009, our startup was shut down by litigious jerks. That's now over -- I can only say that "the dispute has been resolved".

I suppose this means that the actors behind the hostilities are no longer in the picture.

I remember seeing this before and have looked for it subsequently because it presented shopping in exactly the way I wished it could be done. I'm so happy you've been able to bring it back!

I have a suggestion (if this is appropriate here?) - I'd like a way to mark several items on one page and then have it combine all of those for the next set of results. The way it seems to work now I am progressing down one branch, then another, then further, etc. But what if I could see a set of decent results but there are a few items on the page that I like the look of. If there were a way to turn on a "multi-selection" option, mark a few different things and then have it give me results that combined them I think I could find the One True Handbag.

Who are we kidding, there's no One True Handbag but I think maybe you know what I'm saying.

So very glad to see you're back! I was impressed with your site initially and then very dismayed when you had to take it down. Hope the resolution thoroughly swatted the entities who sued you.

Yay! Congrats on a genius idea and your fortitude in braving the "litigious jerks." I remember recommending this site to so many people back then, only to have it go away.
