The trailer for my novel KINO
My novel Kino will be published by Atticus Books on Tuesday. It's about a German silent film director whose movies are believed lost during World War II -- until his granddaughter receives a print of his 1927 debut The Tulip Thief under mysterious circumstances...

I've been keeping a tumblr about the movies and events that inspired Kino at tulpendiebe.tumblr.com - essentially, a lot of Weimar era art, photos, and film, with some 50s Hollywood and copyright/remix/piracy issues thrown in.

To celebrate the launch of the book, I asked Ivan Guerrero to create a "restored" version of the Tulpendiebe trailer. Ivan's premakes have been featured on Metafilter before, and he did an amazing job using nine different era movies, including Häxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages (1922) and The Cursed Windmill (1909), to recreate the film.
