Diarists and diaries are the main focus of every story. I always refer to original sources, provide links, and try to quote actual diary texts.

Do "My Confession: Recollections of a Rogue by Samuel Chamberlain." You can find cheap copies if you look around. This was one of the source materials for Cormac McCathy's "Blood Meridian." I thought it was a fun read.
