Cocktail Cost Calculator
In the style of the "Sandwich Calculator" on Cockeyed, this tool helps you to analyse and view the costs of cocktails at home or parties. Choose from 54 ingredients, such as 1 ounce Gin, half-ounce Frangelico and four ounces of grapefruit juice, and see the costs of each portion totalled and displayed on the next page.

Select pre-made drinks or specify "top shelf" ingredients if desired.

The layout was a bit confusing.

Also the currency is only US dollars?

So I guess I'm suggesting a better name might be U.S. Cocktail Cost Calculator.

I'd at least add the euro and the pound.

U.S. Cocktail Cost Calculator

indeed and measures only in ounces. The world uses metric.

I think you need to rethink the UI a bit. That page is kind of crazy.

Suggestions for a new UI?

Should I eliminate some options to make it simpler?

Every drink recipe I've seen uses ounces. I live in California.

Wikipedia lists IBA cocktails with measurements in metric.

Also, what constitutes "regular liquor"? If I choose something from the list, the price is going to vary quite a bit based on what brand I buy.

This tool is designed to estimate the cost of cocktails. Of course the price of each ingredient can be more or less than my estimate, but I felt that including a low-cost well and 25 top shelf liquors would cover most inquiries.

If you click through those IBA recipes, you'll see they are mostly translated from the ounces, e.g., Kamakaza is 3 cl vodka, 3 cl lime juice, 3 cl triple sec.

Probably just my North American bias...

Well, one easy shift would be letting people submit after just clicking one of the pre-mixed up top. But to make it through the whole thing, that's a lot of scrolling.

You could also do text input that you parse to assemble the ingredients. Having all those drop down boxes, which don't even fit on the page, is a bit much.

Hey Klangklangston! That is a good idea! I can easily do two submit buttons!
Thanks!

I attempted to check the price of a cable car, typically at Bellagio for $12 I think?

So first of all, I couldn't do the exact measurements:

1 1/4 oz Captain Morgan's Rum
3/4 oz Orange Curacao
1 1/4 oz Sweet and sour

Also Orange Curacao was missing.

Is there a way to link this to do a lookup as some drink mixer web site so I could just type "cable car" and it would find it?
