Paul, the Stagger Lee article was great! Looking forward to reading your entries on Frankie and Johnny and Knoxville Girl as well. Might we be seeing something on Omie Wise?

Well done, my friend.

Thanks for the kind words, folks. I'm not allowed to toot my own trumpet on the main Metafilter page - which is fair enough - but if you should think any of my essays merit it ...

Oh, and infinitewindow? My name really is Paul Slade but, yes, I'm very familiar with the Nick Cave song you mention. Slade's quite a common surname in the English county of Somerset, where my Dad comes from, and I like to think of Richard as a distant cousin on that side of the family.

Been there done that. I don't think I can toot your trumpet again. I'll give you a vote and a favorite though, how's that.

I posted this project because there's more than that one story on the site, and because I had fun finding all those various versions of Stagger Lee/Stack O Lee. If tellurian's post (or any of the following comments) made note of what else was on the site, I would have let it be.

Thank you, tellurian, and thank you filthy light thief. I hope my little nudge didn't break any rules either.
