Post-Gogol World

Daniil Kharms' (discussed here and here) texts (specifically, 8 texts) were translated (into English) and recorded (on analog tape) with improvized jazz (by musicians). The Musicians' Improvized Jazz Analog Tape English Translations of 8 Specific Daniil Kharms Texts was supposedly "too long" and "not great", so we titled the album "Post-Gogol World" instead. It's now available on Bandcamp. Give it a spin! x

Do you like giving unique gifts? Do you like helping kids in need? Then you're gonna love Holiday Naughty Pass. It's a fundraiser for Santa for a Day, a nonprofit that buys presents for kids who would otherwise wake up to no gifts on Christmas morning. [more inside]

Men Say the Darndest Things (NSFW-ish)

I designed and animated this video which curates a cringe-worthy selection of funny and sad (and 100% real) comments left for Instagram models. While I didn't use the actual photos, the drawings of the models are probably NSFW, and the language used is... also interesting.

Find out what's #TRENTing from a brash cartoon character

Short comedy video series: Trent is a sort of Max Headroom for the social media era — but only sort of. He lives inside the matrix, telling you what's #TRENTing, in a brash style — mixing a Scandinavian accent with a Brooklyn attitude. In this episode, Trent weighs in on the Ghost in the Shell controversy, the Vice President's rule about dining alone with women, and your search history being up for sale. WARNING: "Mature" language. Straight Outta Downton

It's what it sounds like -- a rap about Downton Abbey based on N.W.A.'s "Straight Outta Compton." An animated music video of sorts, just for fun.

Saucy vacation tips from Franklin the Ladies' Cat

My misguided, confident cartoon character is back with some invaluable advice for the romantic traveler... in his trademark, confident style seemingly informed by the infinite wisdom of men's magazines. [more inside]

Cold Cat (animated short)

A freezing cat seeks the warmth of a woman, but ends up having to rely on city infrastructure. Along the way, there's a bit of Gangnam Style, a hot-tub scene of sorts, and a very brief bedroom dalliance. [more inside]

Museum of Broken Relationships

I recently had the chance to visit the museum while on a tour of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Croatia. This isn't one of them, but I had to visit it anyway. Looking objectively at things that carried heavy emotional weight for a pair of strangers is just weird, and I wanted to see what sort of depressing and funny stuff the museum had to offer. Just in case Croatia isn't next on your list of travel destinations, I thought I'd share a few of the museum's highlights right here.

R Money Music Video

I made a music video envisioning Mitt Romney as a rapper named R Money who likes to rap about how wealthy he is. There is an interesting synchronicity between some aspects of hip hop culture and wealthy media figures like Donald Trump and Mitt Romney that make for a funny juxtaposition, I think. [more inside]

English Majeure

is a new webcomic I've started. Jokes about books- so far I've done Rand, Mailer, Milton, Vidal, Thompson, and Tolkien. Lots more to come, with at least one update a week. Oh, and the "About" page features the most dignified picture of me ever taken.

Caught Dead In That

I've started a photo blog dedicated to funny tombstones. Some photos I took myself; others I'm reblogging from elsewhere (with proper credit, of course.) The only rule is that they have to be real-- no styrofoam Halloween props, and no photoshopping.
