Caught Dead In That
I've started a photo blog dedicated to funny tombstones. Some photos I took myself; others I'm reblogging from elsewhere (with proper credit, of course.) The only rule is that they have to be real-- no styrofoam Halloween props, and no photoshopping.

Thanks, Faint of Butt. That's a great one! I'll definitely add that.

My Dad was a believer in reincarnation - hence his plaque

Thanks for sharing that one, Gomichild-- the plaque manages to be moving and funny at the same time, which says a lot about your dad. I've added that to my posting queue as well!

I took this one in highgate cemetery. It is actually not far from the Marx grave you posted or from Douglas Adams.

Thanks, Vacapinta! I spent a great day at Highgate but I completely missed that one. I've now put it into my posting queue.
Highgate really does seem to have the best headstones, doesn't it? I think I'm going to have to make another visit.

This is not technically a tombstone but there's a lot of granite here and people make funny ones sometimes. Two other ones you might like [and are welcome to reblog w/ a link back or credit] are this and this.

Thanks, Jessamyn! Where is that first one from? It's funny, but (at least for now) I'm going to stick to my Tombstones Only policy.
The other two are great--I've added them to my queue (with proper credit, of course.)
Thanks!

It's from the local golf course, sort of near the parking area here in Randolph VT.

Ah, makes sense.
There's probably a whole new blog to be made from Faux Tombstones. Hmm...

If you're looking to expand the post a little, Karl Marx' grave is not the original one ito which he was buried. He wanted a simple grave, and was given one, but the Marx Historical Society moved his body to a more prominent position and made that monstrosity, against basically all his wishes for his interring.

Interesting, Cantdosleepy! I had no idea. That makes a lot more sense.
