Vermont FarmCam
In 2006, in a MetaFilter thread about a person in Norway making a time-lapse of the woods behind their house, I said:
"One of these days I will do something similar where I live."
Two months after that comment we bought our little house in the hills of Vermont, and I started playing with my own scenic webcam.

After years of bouncing around at various domains, and lots of behind the scenes hacking, tweaking, and features being added, the Vermont FarmCam has found its home.*

Some of the new features include:
  • YouTube Channel! If YT is your thing, I created a process to automatically upload each day's daylight-only time-lapse to the channel. As they say, please subscribe, and click on the notification icon. Thanks.
  • Federation! If you use federated services such as Mastodon [other MeFites!], PixelFed, Pleroma, Friendica, etc, you can follow @view@www.vermontfarmcam.com for daily reminders and links to content. Follow @talk@www.vermontfarmcam.com if you want to see my (rare) posts on the project, other nature webcams, or time-lapse video.

  • Known to have a calming effect. YMMV.

If you are more interested in the process — which is held together with bubblegum and baling twine — I try to share as much as possible on the project site, and in the all-too-rare blog entries. I am hoping to add more content on a regular basis. Hopefully the daily videos are enough!

Hey I recognize that view!

This is lovely. I love watching the fog burn off early in the morning.

Thanks, bondcliff. Looking forward to the day when we can have people up/over again.

I love it! Northern New England is just wonderful. I love watching the snow in the time lapse videos. <3

Thanks for the kind words!

FYI, I am occasionally live streaming the farmcam on the YouTube channel.
