XOXO 2024
After nearly five years away, we're bringing back our experimental festival for independent artists who live and work online, one last time to Portland, OR this August 22–24. To celebrate, we launched a little teaser website that holds a little secret. [more inside]
The Electric Lightsaber Orchestra
My friend Matthew and I started coming up with music acts that ought to exist in the Star Wars universe. Before you know it, we had an entire imaginary music festival. And a poster. And a domain to host the poster. I think we got a little carried away. Anyway, if you've ever dreamed of seeing Darth Cab for Cutie share a stage with Kessel Run-DMC, then Tatunes is the festival for you.
The 2010 Koprivshtitsa Festival Orgy®
Every five years, in the Bulgarian village of Koprivshtitsa, over 15,000 performers and 250,000
spectators gather to celebrate the national music and folklore of Bulgaria. This Orgy consists
entirely of original recordings made on location during the 2010 festival, featuring hundreds of
songs from every folkloric region of Bulgaria as well as field recordings made around the town.
It will be broadcast on WHRB Cambridge, 95.3 fm, from 5 am until 11 am EST, and streamed over the web at http://whrb.org.
Next Wave 2010 - Text Camp Reader
I was part of a creative writing mentorship as part of Melbourne's Next Wave Festival 2010, which presented multi-form experiential art. Our task was to respond to how well we thought the pieces reflected the year's theme No Risk Too Great. My piece, No Risk Too Great: Comfort Zones, discusses the absurdity of doing things outside your "comfort zone" while still being protected in the confines of a hipster-peer-filled arts festival.
