After a couple of months of work, we've finally launched this! It's a collection of short stories about the things that bring us joy, and the science behind them. Pairs well with headphones.
In 1965, soon after Bloody Sunday, white minister Jim Reeb was murdered in Selma by four men. Three were charged, all were acquitted. A new NPR podcast explores the legacy of that death, and investigates the circumstances of Reeb's death. I worked on this visual introduction to the case, including photos, audio, and excerpts from the FBI case file.
My first album of standup and storytelling came out digitally in June of this year (previously) and I started an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds to press a limited edition of the record onto hot pink vinyl. That campaign was fully funded, and the records are now in production. And as of today, venerated DC punk rock label Dischord Records (Fugazi, Minor Threat) will be distributing the 12" vinyl version of my album! You can preorder a copy here. [more inside]
I'm writing a book about the public radio pledge drive. I've conducted two focus groups and done two years worth of secondary research. I've also had interviews with leaders in and founders of public radio. And I have nearly 1,000 followers on various social media accounts who are in public radio. I'm a standup comic and storyteller in NYC, been a member of the blue for a long time. My stuff has been on 'This American Life' and The Moth's podcast - and my very first album of standup and storytelling just came out today! It's available on iTunes/Amazon/Google Play, and I'm also running an IndieGoGo to raise funds to press it on hot pink vinyl. You can also hear a sample track about my band with piano-playing chickens, and see video of another story featured on the album. [more inside]

A radio documentary on the AIDS crisis and its impact on the “gay paradise” of Fire Island throughout the 1980s. The 25-minute piece airs this week on KCRW’s “UnFictional” program, in commemoration of World AIDS Day 2013. My Web site has a companion page introducing the guests and featuring additional content not heard in the broadcast version. [more inside]
This is a Tumblr I started which goes behind the scenes of my office. (I work at a public radio show in Philadelphia.) I try to post stuff about upcoming guests as well as posts that fit in with the aesthetic of the show. I have a lot of fun with it and thought I'd share it with Metafilter. (There's a lot of behind the scenes stuff about public radio.)
