The Potty Training Exit Survey

I'm (just barely) starting to blog about data for families and households. One of the first pieces I want to do is about potty training, and there's some gaps in the existing literature that I'm hoping to address by collecting some data from parents on when and how they did potty training. If you've potty trained a child *within the past year*, and feel like sharing how it went, I would be most appreciative if you do this 5 minute survey. I'll share the results back here and at littldata.com.

Digital Covers for Over 400 Children's Books

I'm digitizing the covers of a significant portion of my children's book collection and posting them to my Flickr account. Among the items in that collection is a book shaped card game called Dr. Quack which is sort of like Mad Libs. I've parsed out the story and the accompanying cards into a twitter feed just for snicks and giggles. The rest of the books are typically either science books, textbooks, or early examples of cross media licensing based on comic strips, radio shows, TV shows, or movies. [more inside]

Our First Babysitter

Just in time for Halloween, here's a new comedy improv short that my wife and I made. She stars, and I directed. New parents get a very special visit from their first babysitter. It's Spooktacular! Starring Adria Dawn (NCIS, Nip/Tuck) as Raven, and guest starring Joel Stoffer (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) and Thanna Vickerman (Ultimate Reality.)

Elevator Madness

In our latest improv short, my wife, Adria Dawn and I explore what happens when a pregnant woman gets trapped with a self-proclaimed pregnancy expert. This is a slightly twisted take on how soon-to-be parents really feel sometimes. We hope you enjoy it.

Divorce Tales

I'm a member of The Civilians – a theater company that creates shows from investigations into real life. We're partnering with WNYC on a project about divorce. Our latest play, YOU BETTER SIT DOWN: Tales From My Parents' Divorce, was created from interviews we did with our own parents. We asked them questions about why they split up and they told us all the details. Watch clips from the show, see an awesome comic strip, and leave a contribution of your own that could be showcased at WNYC's Greene Space.
