The Kids from Haiti Cookbook
is a cookbook, a photo album, and a fundraiser for the Holt Fontana Village in Haiti, where four or five children live in small cottages with caregivers rather than in a large institutional style orphanage. Its purpose is (a) to give adoptees from the village a kind of memory book with pictures of their friends, caregivers, and the place they came from when they move to live with their adoptive families, and (b) to fund the construction further facilities at Holt Fontana. The cost is $20 per book, with all profits going to the village. This is a project by a sister of a friend, and I'm given to understand that contrary to the April 6th deadline stated on the website, orders for the book will be taken through April.
