Cassette Audio Control for the Web
Do you wish to put audio on your web page but feel like the standard controls too functional and easy to use? Do you yearn for a simpler, more civilized age where you couldn't just skip a track at a touch of a button? Do you wish to annoy and confuse any users below the age of 30? Perhaps you need a web component that mimics the look and feel (and sounds) of an old cassette player.

Thanks, there really is something gratifying about pushing a button and hearing a mechanism go thunk, something that is missing from today's UIs where even things like ovens and tv remotes have touchscreens.
This was originally built for a private mixtape project where I thought the inability to skip tracks was an advantage. It is designed to be integrated into other sites with ease, replacing the standard <audio> html5 tag. Perhaps MeFi Music could do with a 80s-style downgrade...

I am ancient and that really satisfied an old itch. The clicks when the buttons are pressed were just great.

I love this. I almost bought an 80s style tape player at the thrift store yesterday for the pure nostalgia of it. I have no cassettes but it was (probably) identical to one I carried to my dance classes to record the music so I could practice at home.
