Elgg
Elgg is an open source Learning Landscape (PDF) system that allows individuals at an institution to collaborate and learn using Web 2.0 tools - basically stuff that people have been using to create their own digital identities and share ideas for years. Weblogging, podcasting/videocasting, social networking and file repositories are all features, plus a whole bunch of XML feeds (currently RSS and FOAF). Users can either sign up at the hosted site or install their own system.
