From Garching to Innsbruck in 7 days
I’ve recently finished my master’s degree in computer science at the Technical University of Munich and will walk to my hometown in Austria over the course of seven days, starting tomorrow (14 September, 9:00 CEST). This website is my hiking journal.

I’m an old-fashioned person, so this is an old-fashioned website (static HTML in 2016!) without any way to connect via social media or whatever the cool people are doing these days. I hope the content will make up for it. There will be photos and some information about interesting things along the route. It’s Europe, so there’s plenty of history to be found!

Ha! Should have done that 10 years ago, just to feel like I left Garching as thoroughly as possible. Any route that takes you out of there is a good one.

Oh, this is brilliant! I've really enjoyed this post and the photos are marvelous.

One of my bucket list items is to walk from Passau to Vienna someday...

This was great! As an American it always surprises me how many quiet rural-ish places are so close to European cities. That first photo of the wheat fields between the autobahn and the university town drew me right in.
