Custom Steampunk Kilt Jacket
5 1/2 years after posting this question about learning how to sew mens' clothing to Ask MeFi, I made a custom kilt jacket to wear to a steampunk festival earlier this month.

Basing the core of the jacket on a much different commercial pattern, I took photos along the way and wrote up notes about the construction and customization process from start to finish.

Oooh, love it! (Although I am the tiniest bit disappointed you didn't go full pirate, I got all excited when I saw the pirate pattern!)

Oh, wow! I love that! I have been starting to buy some custom-made men's clothing lately, and it's something I want to know how to make for myself. Perhaps this will inspire me to actually use that sewing machine we got at Christmas!!

This is great. The best is the photo of you wearing it with the bunny behind you as a kind a visual echo of your demeanor.
