Metafilter MultiFavorited Multiwidth — Chrome Extension
A once userscript, now Chrome extension that makes it easy to identify popular (i.e. heavily favorited) comments in a MetaFilter discussion. A line to the left of the comment increases in width the more favorites it gets, so you can easily spot them at a glance.

Nearly ten years ago I created the GreaseMonkey user script Metafilter MultiFavorited Multiwidth. It was fairly popular and ever so often I'd get requests to update it when it broken.

Today when I tried to use it I found that it had been completely disabled by Chrome, because Chrome no longer allows the use of extensions unless they are installed via the Chrome store.

So, I packaged it up as a Chrome Extension, paid the $5 developer signup fee, and published it!

I hope people still find it useful. In case it doesn't show up anywhere, I borrowed heavily from flatluigi's original userscript. Thanks flatluigi!

Also note that it's a testament to the stability and predictability of the MetaFilter website that this script still works exactly the same, even though the code has not been changed for 5-6 years. So thanks to pb as well!

On my Chrome at work (Version 50.0.2661.94 m) anything that receives the line indents a fixed amount from the regular body text and any comments without faves. Is that intended?

Funny, I installed TamperMonkey just to just this userscript on Windows...found this post because the script disappeared from TamperMonkey and had to google to redown load the script.

Works a gem! Thanks!

Awesome! I still have the greasemonkey on my firefox at home, but this will improve my at-work browsing.

Works great in conjunction with this bookmarklet made by Jeff Howard that rearranges comments so the most popular is at the top
