Elwha: Roaring back to life
The Elwha river was the world's largest dam removal project, with the first dam removed in 2011 and the second in 2014. Since then, the watershed has changed dramatically, almost entirely for the better.
This is a big project for the Seattle Times that has finally gone live. There's a blowout print version as well, but on the web we were able to add animations to the hand-drawn watercolors, show off the beautiful photos and video, and cram in even more adorable animals. Normally, we only do these kinds of huge multimedia presentations for the investigative projects, which are often a little grim, so it was nice to work on something like this for Lynda, who is literally the world's most cheerful environmental reporter.
