2014 US Open Class Nationals
I'm blogging the 2014 US Open Class National Soaring Contest in Northern California, where beautiful sailplanes race hundreds of miles. Photos and videos show the view from the rear seat of a 2-place glider participating in the contest. The blog assumes no familiarity with competitive soaring or gliding in general.

Although a blog by format, this project is a substantial effort to document and explain a fascinating, little-known national-level amateur sporting event as it occurs; hopefully it qualifies as a "significant new creation". (I certainly look at it that way!)

Missed this when it was happening, but as a (currently inactive) sailplane pilot, bravo, glad to see this on mefi!
