Gnomeland
We had a need to prank a coworker with the "best prank ever", and we decided the best way to do it was to wait for an occasion when she and her boyfriend were out of the house for the day, and then turn their house into Gnomeland, New Hampshire's Premiere Gnome Destination. This involved installing approximately 500 gnomes in an around her house, including hiding gnomes in all sorts of places across the property. And we put up a giant "Gnomeland" banner. And replaced the photos in her house with pictures of gnomes traveling to tourist landmarks like the Hollywood sign and the Golden Gate Bridge.
How did we come up with 500 gnomes? We cast them out of concrete (using molds we bought online). We painted them by hand at night. 10 weeks later, we had ~500 gnomes.

terrapin: We made the artistic decision that at least 80% of the gnomes would be "normal" gnomes, so that left us with a lot of gnome ideas that didn't get realized, including:
Gnomer Simpson (White shirt, yellow skin, blue jeans)
Sriracha (All red except for a green hat)
Dumbledore (seeing that we already had two Gandalfs and a Merlin)
And at one point we were running out of name ideas, and I almost did a sequence of blender speeds.
Considered but rejected were the Seven Dwarfs, since these are gnomes, not dwarves! (Although we did end up with a Gimli who is now in New Zealand)
