I've been working with some professional audio engineers the past few months getting recordings of live performances in full, mastering them, and putting them out on demand in high quality 256KB AAC. The concerts are a mix of Canadiana, jazz, rock, blues, classical quartets and more, all featuring leaders in their field.
We think there's a lack of content coming out of Canada and we set up a workflow where rights are negotiated with the artists from the very beginning (broadcasts are available for a year), everything is recorded and then audio engineer students and professionals master the content.
So far we've got concerts recordings for:
Jane Bunnet and Hilario Duran (Cuban)
Sam Roberts (Canadian rock)
Del Barber (Canadian rock/folk)
Blackie and the Rodeo Kings (country rock and blues)
Afiara Quartet (classical)
Lialia Biali (contemporary jazz)
Jens Lindemann (jazz, brass, big band)
We've got recordings in the can for Joel Plaskett's Emergency, Blue Rodeo, and Matt Andersen and more to come. We've got the rights to broadcast them in full for a year, it's been a real experience and I don't think anyone else is streaming audio of this quality over the web at the moment.
